Transitional in style with chic and glamorous details like marble and a touch of sparkle. This kitchen blends cool colors from a gray palette and a variety of textures. The perimeter cabinetry is painted white and the island is a painted “Fog” finish. The cabinetry is from our Koch line and the simple flat-panel “Prairie” door has been selected. A Moline, IL kitchen with appliances from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

The top section of cabinet doors have glass center panels for a clerestory look. Even with every surface from floor to ceiling covered, this range wall still stays feeling open and airy. Venetian Calcutta marble tiles in a subway tile shape fill the backsplash area and extend behind the chimney-style hood on up to the ceiling. A 30″ wide wall mount chimney hood with 400 CFM’s of power sits above a front-control slide-in gas range by Maytag®.

This front-control style range includes true convection features and fits any standard 30″ wide opening for an existing range. “Slide-in” ranges used to require special countertop installations and surroundings. With the new FIT System from Maytag®, this unit will slide right into an existing opening for a custom look without hassle. The look allows your tiled backsplash the full area to be showcased. Five gas burners on top and 5.8 cu. ft. of capacity inside the oven, this range is perfect for any serious cook. A Moline, IL kitchen with Maytag appliances from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

Convection features offer up a consistent temperature and with an added third element surrounding the convection fan in this unit, the entire cavity can heat up faster. That means a faster preheat with Power Preheat! Convection is easier to use than you think. Just ask one of our expert sales team members about how it works. We included a full-depth refrigerator in this kitchen design (notice the projection out into the kitchen in image below). A Moline, IL kitchen with Maytag appliances from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores

In this design, there is no demand for a counterdepth model. Instead, a full 27 cu. ft. french door refrigerator is installed. Maytag®’s fingerprint resistant stainless steel keeps this entire appliance package looking brand new everyday. Press play below to take a closer look around this kitchen:

Such a beautiful space. The second wall of cabinetry includes the kitchen sink, dishwasher, and a window. That same fingerprint resist stainless finish is also on the dishwasher. Maytag® takes their warranty a step above others in the industry by including a 10 year warranty on the major components of an appliance (i.e. the cooktop burners, oven burners, cast-iron metal grates, refrigerator compressor, etc). Ask your Village appliance expert what is covered on your new Maytag® appliances! A Moline, IL kitchen with Maytag appliances by Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

Tile transitions and installation designs can be just as much or a decision as selecting the material. Our surface experts work with your kitchen designer to give you the best application of your selections for the best end result. The range wall in this kitchen is between two walls making it easy for tile to end. The sink wall required what is called a “Schluter® strip” (shown below).A Moline, IL kitchen with Venetian Calcutta subway tiles and schluter end strip from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

This metal channel allows a clean edge for the tile and grout to end at. Available in many sizes and finishes, this element is available to be bid for all of our installed jobs as well as for our DIY and cash-and-carry customers. The kitchen island in this design has cabinetry facing the range wall and an overhanging area along the back for counter-height seating. A Moline, IL kitchen with painted gray cabinets from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

The back side has been fit with wainscot panels and two wooden legs on the ends give the island a furniture look. Outlets are tucked up beneath the overhang area for small appliance hookup when prepping or serving. The inside of the island also has a hidden secret…A Moline, IL kitchen with hidden microwave from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

Fossil Gray quartz counters give an almost cement-like look to the kitchen’s perimeter and lets the pattern of the large island top shine. The kitchen island shown below measures roughly 8 1/2 feet x 3 feet in size. The Summerhilldesign by Cambria® Quartz is full of neutral grays and whites plus subtle sparkles. When shown in a large piece (like this island), it has a huge design impact.

Hanging above the kitchen island is a “Morgan” 8-light fixture from our Capital Lighting line. Sleek and chic, the Morgan light is a Polished Nickel finish with square K9crystal bases at each candlestick-like base. The light is the perfect size and scale for the island. With the caged design, it keeps the entire look open with a clear sight through to the kitchen.A Moline, IL home with stylish chrome lighting from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | VillageHomeStores.com

A smaller version of that same island light hangs right around the corner at the front door entry. Product Profile- Craft Art Wood Surfaces

There has been a lot of anticipation in the showroom this week as we had a mysterious new countertop arrive carefully packaged and wrapped. And now… the reveal of a brand new product available to our customers: Craft Art Wood Surfaces for your home! These wood tops are absolutely stunning in person and nearly impossible not to walk up and touch. When we say you need to come in to see and feel this product we mean it. Just a reminder that you never have to have an appointment to wander out showroom. We love it when downtown shoppers come in just to browse the displays. Craft Art wood tops available to the Quad Cities Region from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

We couldn’t wait to pair our new “Charcoal Blue” Koch painted island with this perfect farmhouse-inspired product for the display. Available in  variety of woods, finishes, and edge profiles (1/2″ bevel shown below). These striking wood countertops warm any space up!Wood butcherblock tops available to the Quad Cities Region from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Our display is a warm, rich walnut wood in it’s natural finish. But how does it get that luster? A crosslinked Tung Oil finish is applied. This is how your tops get the look of furniture but the performance you need for countertops. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood so that moisture can’t. The finish in the wood prevents moisture from getting underneath the surface. This makes your wood tops more durable, more resistant to household chemicals, and easier to clean. Craft Art wood surfaces available to the Quad Cities Region from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Something you will notice right away if you have been shopping for wood tops is that the boards in your top are not broken up or scrapped together. Craft Art uses full length boards for their wood islands and butcherblock tops. Never remnants. These tops are also food safe because of the finish process. That makes them safe to use as a food prep area. Need an expert endorsement? Rachel Ray has had Craft Art wood tops in her set kitchens and she uses them to cut, prep, and serve her dishes. She certainly isn’t gong to have time on her show to be worried about spills, stains, or messes. And you know it still looks camera ready after an oiling.  Any surface imperfections or scratches from use can be easily sanded out. Wood countertop surfaces for your home from the kitchen and bath experts at Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

How much maintenance does “Low Maintenance” mean? All that is required for upkeep of these heirloom-quality tops is to re-oil them monthly. No more work that wiping them clean after use really. Dozens of woods to choose from including Black Walnut, Sapele Mahogany, Zebrawood, Reclaimed Chestnut, Wenge, and many more.

There are many woods, finishes and even edges to choose from for your project and imagine how much texture and variety this project can bring to a complete kitchen design. This product is a wonderful addition to two-tone designs and kitchen islands lending themselves to a more furniture look. A smooth, rounded bullnose edge, or choose from a variety of ogee edges and even an on-trend faux live edge option (shown below on Driftwood Walnut). Wood countertop surface with faux raw edge available in a variety of woods and finishes from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Not limited to just kitchens, consider this product for your home office, bar, or other spaces. At Village Home Stores we work hard to curate a list of products and services that match the quality our customers have come to expect from us. We have had many requests for a wood top product like this and are thrilled it is now available for our projects. This product also has many sustainable/green options available. Many are even LEED certified materials.

Quad Cities, IL- A Lower Level Library Full of Details

Village Home Stores doesn’t just design beautiful kitchen and bathroom spaces for your home. Think of ALL of the areas that we can help to make beautiful and customized to your own personal tastes and styles. Take this home study/library for example:
Custom Cherry inset cabinetry by DuraSupreme in a Quad Cities Area home Library. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

This beautiful customized space is hidden behind a sliding barn door adjacent to our last featured project. Nothing says sophisticated and studious for a space quite like a rich, cherry woodgrain and custom details. The DuraSupreme cabinetry consists mainly of paneling, trim and shelving but the base cabinets behind the desk are an inset style.
Custom Cherry inset cabinetry by DuraSupreme in a Quad Cities Area home Library. Chapel Hill door and Chestnut stain. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

The Chapel Hill door in a Cherry wood stained a “Chestnut” finish, details like a furniture base and added feet to the toespace create interest. The term inset means that the doors sit inside of the cabinet frame instead of overlaying and resting outside of it. This inset style is considered “beaded” inset because of the routed detail around the cabinet frame which houses the doors and drawer fronts.
Seagrove Cambria Quartz and schoohouse decor in a Quad Cities Area home Library. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

A Cambria Quartz counter in the “Seagrove” design caps off the back of the desk area. We love the added detail of selecting the Seagrove design that adds the natural-stone look with a veined pattern. A vintage chalkboard adds an upscale schoolhouse style to the space. A touch of old, surrounded by new. The secondary wall of shelving not shown is home to many books and personal items for display (respectfully omitted from this public post). A home library should provide practical storage but also plenty of display space for the user. Two glass-door wall cabinets flank the chalkboard area for more dust-free display space.
Chalkboard in home office. #schoolhouse #decor Design and materials by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Of course baseboards and crown molding can take any project to a more polished and complete look. This library takes it one step further by adding details like decorative wood feet, fluted columns, and carved wooden corbels at the corners (shown below at left). Any added layer allows the light one more edge or curve to catch and highlight the space. Many times customers are concerned so much wood will make a room seem very dark. Layering depths and textures like this helps to keep the look dimensional and highlighted instead of a solid, flat panel of dark wood. Seagrove Cambria Quartz, cherry inset cabinetry and schoohouse decor in a Quad Cities Area home Library. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Any completed study space needs wood paneled walls to get the look right. This space includes custom wainscot paneling installed at a chair rail height with a baseboard below. The paint color for the room mimics the chalkboard color and a wingback chair with nailheads completes the look. The only thing missing from the perfect home study space is a roaring fireplace, which because of the rooms location, wasn’t an option. The space still inspires!
Custom Cherry trim and paneling by DuraSupreme in a Quad Cities Area home Library. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

Our unique series of adorne lightswitches and outlets give a modern update to an otherwise distracting break in the custom wall paneling. Imagine if bright white plastic outlets were cut into these custom wainscot panels. Wouldn’t that distract from the look? Instead, sleek metallic-look plates frame square outlets.
Sliding barn door entrance to a Quad Cities Area home Library. Design and material by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

The same polished “Silver Springs” 12″ x 36″ River Marble floors continue from the kitchenette into the library area. Polished marble and floor-to-ceiling custom cherry shelving give this library a look like no other. This space would look right at home in a well-kept historic estate but we love knowing it is getting great use for this family in the Midwest countryside.

Quad Cities Remodel- The Lower Level Kitchenette of Your Dreams

Perhaps “Kitchenette” isn’t the right term for this feature. It seems so backwards to add “-ette” to a word and somehow make it sound small and adorable… when in fact this is a fully functioning kitchen. If you had a busy Lower Level including a large game room and walkout access to a pool wouldn’t you dream of a kitchen space like this for entertaining? DuraSupreme Cabinetry and Cambria Quartz counters featured in this Quad Cities area kitchen remodel from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

With home library hidden behind a sliding barn door (more on that in a future post), this kitchen includes a full wall of cabinetry and appliances and a large single-level island. Cabinetry from our DuraSupreme line has been installed in two finishes of the same “Chapel Hill” doorstyle. Take a closer look at the doors and drawers to see that this is an inset cabinet design.  DuraSupreme Cabinetry in inset cherry wood and Chestnut stain featured in this Quad Cities area kitchen remodel from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

This means that the cabinet doors and drawerfronts have been “inset” into the cabinet faceframe instead of hinged to set in front of the frame. The island is a Cherry wood in the rich, warm Chestnut stain. The kitchen wall of cabinetry is a painted Maple wood in the “Graphite” color. A barn door with glass inserts rolls away to reveal a home office next to this Quad Cities area kitchen remodel from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

The cabinets reach all the way to the ceiling with the help of a stacked crown molding application. Glass inserts and open shelves help to keep the back wall feeling open and interesting. A tall oven cabinet is home to a KitchenAid wall oven and microwave. The wall oven includes convection features for a faster preheat and a more consistent interior temperature. An induction cooktop is centered in the island countertop.DuraSupreme Cabinetry and KitchenAid appliances featured in this Quad Cities area kitchen remodel from Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

The sink wall also includes a bottom freezer refrigerator also from KitchenAid and a farmsink by Kohler. A rich glossy 12″ x 36″ marble tile floor in the “River Marble” color looks stunning at all times of day. Cambria Quartz counters in the Ella design have been installed for a classic touch. Ella offers the look of a marble counter with all of the no-maintenance and durability benefits of a Quartz counter.

The sink base has been pulled forward and furniture style legs have been added for a great finished look. This sink from Kohler is a large, single-well style with an offset drain. A narrow sill piece of Cambria has been installed on the window ledge to offer a durable and stylish shelf area for plants or display. Glossy “Arctic White” 3″ x 6″ Subway Tile has been installed as a backsplash and behind the floating shelf areas of the main kitchen wall.

The back treatment of the island gives a customized wainscot look but also includes an angled panel area that accents the support bracket and wood apron for the countertop overhang. Our unique series of switches and outlets named Adorne adds interest and an updated look to the wall outlets. With a variety of options and many colors to choose from, there is no reason why you wall outlets ad switches can’t be just as stylish as your tile selections!
