This brand new home built in Bettendorf Iowa has a sophisticated look to the kitchen design and materials selected. The space we created for this Heartland Builders customer is tall, dark, and handsome! Dark “Charcoal Blue” painted kitchen cabinets in the Savannah flat panel door from our Koch Classic Cabinetry line paired with Hanstone “Yorkville” quartz surfaces, Whirlpool appliances, and light French Oak wood floors are all featured.
Wait. But we said tall, dark, and handsome right? Can you notice yet where the “tall” detail comes in? Take another peek at the image above (we left the cat in for scale). Notice anything unusual? The entire kitchen island is set at bar height compared to the perimeter installed at standard counter height.
The user that will be at this kitchen island is tall. And this island is set at a height that will be far more comfortable to work at than the countless other surfaces they have had to strain to use comfortably in their lifetime. Custom kitchens are not just about finishes or fancy inserts. A great custom kitchen performs to make working in the kitchen easier and more enjoyable. This island height allows that for our client.
We love the 8-light chandelier that was selected to hang above the kitchen island. The corded Savoy House Burgess chandelier has LED Edison style lights that wraps around a wood post. A matching one hangs in the dining space just next to the kitchen. The Burgess series comes in a variety of light options including a vanity light we display in the Village lighting showroom.
The selections for this kitchen design are sophisticated and a breath of fresh air from many of the other new home kitchens we feature. This combination can be transition between industrial and farmhouse depending how you furnish the space. The dark blue cabinets add bold statement without a loud pop of color. Seeing this cabinet finish in person, it really does read as a neutral.
Stainless Steel is used for the kitchen sink and faucet fixtures. A single-handle faucet design with pull-out sprayer looks clean and sleek. With the sink at the center of this large island, it is a far distance from each end to reach a switch for the garbage disposal. So, a disposal button was installed right next to the faucet.
The Whirlpool kitchen appliances are a fingerprint-resistant Stainless Steel finish. We love the look of the range and hood at the center of the longest wall in the kitchen. This 30″ wide gas range is amazing! It has great connected features like scan-to-cook, guiding step-by-step cooking using the Yummly app and even voice control options.
Above the cooktop is 400 CFMs of ventilation power. Because of the tall ceilings in this space, we added an extension to the chimney to reach to the ceiling. The backsplash tile also extends to the ceiling. Many times, tile may end right below the hood. Here the decision to bring it all the way up gives a more completed look.
This is a 2 1/2″x 8″ tile from the “Vestige” series in a “Cool Grey” color with “Iron” grout. This same tile can be installed in a variety of patterns and we have many colors to choose from. Did you know that you can try on a lot of our tile selections using the tool at the top right-hand corner of this blog? It’s easy to use. Just tap the visualizer tool, select a tile, and upload or snap a photo with your phone. It is a great way to “try on” our tile flooring, and countertops options.
We sell a LOT of this “Charcoal Blue” painted cabinet from Koch Cabinetry in and around the Quad Cities area… but usually we use it as an accent. Kitchen islands or vanity cabinets can look great in this finish. Installing it as an entire kitchen serves such an upscale look don’t you think?
The shorter leg of the L-shape design includes a french door refrigerator surrounded by end panels and a cabinet above. To the left, a set of tall doors that open up to reveal a coveted hidden walk-in pantry.
The light oak flooring in this great room kitchen is the perfect surface to showcase the dark cabinetry finish. This is a French Oak wood in the Mariella “Noemi” color from our Bella Cera line. Of course this cat couldn’t resist a little runway moment on the catwalk since it matched so well.
Another one of our favorite flooring surfaces is down the hall from the kitchen in one of the bathrooms. A painted 8″ x 8″ tile from Glazzio’s “Retro Neuve” series in the “Paris Spring” color. We have many tiles like this in other patterns and colors combinations. The look is great as a full floor shown here, and also as an inlayed tile rug or shower wall accent.
The flooring selection for the lower level of this new home is stylish and durable. RigidCORE XL vinyl plank flooring in the “Stepping Stone” color has a TON of style with an almost ombre effect in variation. Why is it called XL though? Because each plank is 60″ long and a full 9″ wide. That gives each plank a chance to truly show off that variation of colors.
We provided cabinetry, countertops, appliances, flooring, and wall tile for this home. Wall tile also means shower surfaces. Take a look at how great this primary bathroom shower looks. We included a pebble tile floor (hello instant foot massage!) and a corner shelf. The pebble tile is “Flowing Ravine” from the “Riverbed” series. We used the same large-format “Mod Slate” tile for the shower walls, bathroom floors, and tub surround.
Village Home Stores also provided the lighting for the inside and outside of the new home. Did you know that we have a large selection of ceiling fans that are rated to be used in wet locations? That means your outdoor living spaces can get a stylish fan option to keep you comfortable in those hotter months. This is a 52″ fan named “Breeze” from our Quorum line. Ask a lighting expert to learn more about our variety of styles and sizes we carry. See more images from this kitchen and the rest of the home here on our Houzz page. If you are considering building a home in or near the Quad Cities soon, then we hope you will consider Village Home Stores for your products.
