Edgebrooke Homes- Kitchen With Blue Island in Bettendorf, Iowa

Blue cabinetry is having more than just a “moment” in the Kitchen and Bath industry! We have installed so many stunning spaces over the past fews years that have introduced a painted blue finish and now it is become such a staple option for Transitional, Scandinavian, and Modern Farmhouse styled spaces. Blue cabinetry is forecasted to remain an accent color for many years to come. Our Koch Classic Cabinetry line makes a neutral blue-gray paint called “Charcoal Blue” and it truly makes a great statement as the island finish in this Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Blue and white cabinet kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa home. This home, built by Edgebrooke Homes, was a QCBR Fall Parade of Homes stop and it is such a wonderful example of how Village can partner with you and your builder to save you time AND money. Shopping our one-stop-shop experience and bundling your purchases is the way to go and it gets you a a more complete design concept! The main kitchen perimeter is a “White” painted cabinetry in the same “Bristol” doorstyle as the kitchen island. Staggered heights and depths of wall cabinetry can help to add interest to a kitchen design that has tall ceilings. This kitchen also includes two heights for casual dining. A large dinette area at dining height, and a single-level kitchen island extends to add more seating at the island. Blue and white kitchen with dining and kitchen island seating in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. The pantry and refrigerator wall of the kitchen actually conceals a hidden feature. The pantry doors open to reveal access to the large walk-in pantry space that turns the corner behind the wall of cabinetry. This same look can be applied in a remodel situation with existing closets or unique spaces. Ask your designer at Village Home Stores how we can include one in your own design. Walk-through pantry front in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Village Home Stores doesn’t want to just know what kitchen spaces inspire you… we want to know what your own dream kitchen looks like. We know it can be difficult for our clients to have a clear vision of what that looks like early on in the design phase. That is why we are here to help. The tall pantry cabinet is balanced by the refrigerator surround on the opposite end of this wall. Also included on this wall is a microwave drawer unit. Microwave drawers are a great way to keep the microwave appliance off of the counter and reachable for any users. Another great location for a microwave drawer is in a kitchen island. This section of the featured kitchen creates a great landing space of countertop for loading and unloading the refrigerator and also a work surface for microwave use and food prep. Sharp microwave drawer in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Counter depth refrigerator models can really help you so much when the design demands it for traffic paths and space allowances. In this kitchen, a standard depth unit works perfectly “built-in” against the wall on one side and with a tall, deep panel on the other. A deep cabinet above completes the look. It also stays looking great with a Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel finish that easily wipes clean. Whirlpool WRF555SDFZ French Door Refrigerator in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. The kitchen island includes the kitchen sink and a Whirlpool dishwasher. This dishwasher is quiet at just 47 decibels (normal conversation is at about 50 dba). A TotalCoverage Spray Arm cleans with twice the jets as usual and an In-Door Silverware Basket frees up rack space by easily fitting on the front of the lower rack or in the door to make room for more dishes. Charcoal Blue painted kitchen island and Whirlpool dishwasher in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. Geneseo Giving Tree 2018- Weathered Wonderland

We are so excited to be a part of such an active and thriving small business community in Geneseo, Illinois. Our community supports small business and each other so much it’s impossible for the support not to be contagious! We are so thrilled to be involved in a brand new way to give back by participating in the inaugural year of the Geneseo’s Giving Trees! Today our tree is in place at the Village Home Stores showroom at 105 S State Street in downtown Geneseo, IL and we couldn’t be happier with how our team’s vision has come to life with Christmas Magic! This is our Weathered Wonderland Tree now available for auction:

The goal of Geneseo’s Giving Trees is to see businesses partner up to create a tree design that can be auctioned off for proceeds to be given to a local charity. We have partnered up with a crew that we are pretty used to working with, Durian Builders. If you love seeing our before and after remodel stories that we share here on the blog and on our TV show, then you are familiar with their craftsmanship. The partnership between Durian and Village Home Stores was a perfect match and we decided to choose Rebuilding Together Henry County as our charity. We knew we would make a great team but we never dreamed the tree would turn out this great!
Geneseo Giving Tree 2018 Weathered Wonderland. Barnwood tree built by Durian Builders and trimmed by Village Home Stores with proceeds raised to help Rebuiding Together Henry County. | villagehomestores.com

The team at Durian Builders decided instead of purchasing a tree… why not make a tree? Well, because that’s not that easy …right? It is if you are a skilled carpenter with vision. We searched all of Pinterest and Scott never found what he had as his own vision… so he sketched it up and went to work with his own idea. When he sent us an update that he had found the perfect stack of reclaimed barnwood to work with, we knew we were on the right track. Geneseo Giving Tree built from barnwood by Durian Builders and decorated by Village Home Stores to benefit Rebuilding Together Henry County. | villagehomestores.com

From that pile of wood, Durian and friends built us a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree that we were certain could stand out as unique. But how to dress it without covering up all of that great character? We decided to take a trend that we have seen take off in Interior Design and Lighting and translate it into Christmas decor. An Upscale, Weathered, Coastal style has branched off of the Farmhouse trend and we thought a Coastal vibe would be a perfect fit for weather barnwood. To light the tree we wrapped copper LED fairy lights around a thick jute rope. Eucalyptus Christmas idea! Take clear lanterns and hang from your tree with small bouquets of greenery. | villagehomestores.com

Of course no tree is a tree without some greenery on it. We kept our greens on trend by using varieties of faux Eucalyptus contained in transparent vessels. Small lanterns hang from five of the branches with small bouquets inside of them. The most talked about part of the decor are our DIY ornaments. We fully grant you permission to steal this idea!
Great eucalyptus ornament DIY idea! Take clear ornaments and fill with faux greenery. | villagehomestores.com

We took a large pile of shatterproof transparent Christmas Bulbs and filled them with sprigs of faux eucalyptus. This would be a super fun and safe DIY Christmas craft for a family to do together. We re-capped them and added a single simple loop ribbon and they are one of our favorite parts of the tree! Pin this and many more ideas to your own Pinterest boards by following our Holiday Decor board here. All of the ornaments hang from brass hooks applied to the tree branches.Burlap Christmas idea! Wrap ornaments in burlap strips for your tree. | villagehomestores.com

As an added stringed element to compliment the lighted rope, we made wooden bead swags. Medium-sized wooden beads strung on jute rope were painted with a white paint distressing finish and then given a subtle brushing of a pearled champagne wash for a little sparkle. Weathered wooded beads are a huge trend right now in home lighting and you should see some of the fixtures we have on display in this category.

This tree was created with many neutral colors in mind so that it can be easily placed in any settings. You can always add your own punch of a favorite color or change elements of it year to year. Don’t you think you need this tree in your own home? You can have it! A bid sheet has been placed inside of our store window next to the tree. Opening bids begin Friday November 16th and bids may be placed in $25 increments. Our tree will be on display in the showroom window and available to bid on from November 16th through December 10th. Farmhouse Christmas idea! Bettendorf Bathroom Remodel With Double Vanity and Pendant Lights

Bathroom remodel with Dura Supreme Cabinetry in Bettendorf, Iowa. | villagehomestores.com

Who remodels bathroom in the Quad Cities Area? We do? But what if you don’t need it fully gutted and rearranged? Still us! Village Home Stores is in the business of helping you make the most out of every room in your home. Many bathroom and kitchen layouts are already very functional designs, they just need a new look. Our expert remodel team is definitely here to help. Updating your home can add to it’s value and appeal. In this Bettendorf home, we gave an oak and brass Master Bath a new classic look. Marble look quartz counters in Quad Cities. | villagehomestores.com

Marble look quartz in the Calacatta Classique color is such a classic and transitional choice. Marble has proven for centuries that it will never go out of style. Quartz counters in a bathroom are an ideal choice. Here you get the look of marble, but no worries if anything spills or leaks onto the tops. Quartz is also heat resistant so hair appliances won’t scorch or melt the surface if they come in contact with it. The shower area also received an updated look:Who remodels bathroom in the Quad Cities? We do! Bathroom remodel with new shower entry in Bettendorf, Iowa. Remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

What a difference a new shower door system can make! From heavy, brass framework, to a more open and airy look, the new shower area seems larger without changing in size at all. And now for the main event: the double vanity area. Any Master Bath with two users can always plead it’s case for having two vanity sinks. But this bathroom has us convinced that the pendant lighting trend in bathrooms is also a great choice! We love the use of two framed mirrors and a light above each bowl area.
Bathroom remodel with Dura Supreme Cabinetry in Bettendorf, Iowa. | villagehomestores.com

Vanity cabinetry from our Dura Supreme line in the “Kendall” door and painted “Latte” finish creates a soothing neutral color choice. Latte may be a beige paint at first glance, but when browsing finish selections it really falls within the warm white/taupe category. Selecting a lighter neutral paint cabinet to pair with a marble look top can be a great way to keep a space seem smaller. There are still so many varieties of colors in the veining of a marble top, and of course flooring to tie into the overall look. You don’t need a dark paint or stain for a rich look. Kichler Downtown series pendants in a Quad Cities Bathroom Remodeled by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

This bathroom feature also brought a fun detail to our attention. How versatile the Downtown Series of lighting by Kichler is! These same pendants hang in our showroom above a kitchen island display. We have installed them at countless projects used as everything from a single foyer light, to kitchen lighting, and now in a bathroom space. The same light. In the same scale and size. Used in many varieties of styled spaces. Now that is the very definition of Transitional Style. See the same lights here in a past blog feature of a kitchen remodel in a historic home. A Quad Cities Kitchen Remodeled Start to Finish

One of the best things about being in our industry is that every single project we work on is different from the next. Even when kitchen and bath trends are put into action, the applications are always different because no space is the same. Village Home Stores has the great privilege of placing our designs and products in new and existing homes in the extended Quad Cities Region and we love each project we complete. We normally don’t admit it when we have favorites… but this week’s featured remodel story in Bettendorf, Iowa is one of our favorites fromf the year for sure! Two tone kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with large kitchen island, waterfall Cambria counters, Black Stainless appliances, and a custom walnut wood top table. | villagehomestores.com

This Bettendorf, Iowa customer found Village Home Stores by catching our weekly television show that airs every Sunday at 9am on WQAD. On the Village Home Show we are able to showcase remodel stories from right here in the Quad Cities area. So when this family was ready, they knew who to call. The original oak cabinetry layout really divided the kitchen from the dining and living spaces. There is a beautiful outside pool area just steps away from the kitchen in this home. With the peninsula in place, it was a long voyage to the kitchen sink from the pool.

We were so thrilled with the ideas they came to us with for a more open concept kitchen. When we say that the kitchen is the hub of the home, this household is a great example of that. With access to lofted living room and the backyard pool retreat, this new kitchen design needed to be functional and stylish. We began by removing the original kitchen… but kept one main element in place to help save some cost to the clients.Need a kitchen remodeler that can manage your project from start to finish? Contact the Quad Cities kitchen experts at Village Home Stores.

This kitchen has been given a whole new look but we kept the original tile floors! That’s right! Because the tile flooring was installed before the original kitchen cabinets went in, there was no void left when we tore out the kitchen peninsula. A new knee-wall was installed with power for island outlets. Take one more look at the original oak kitchen with the peninsula + table layout….Contact the Quad Cities kitchen experts at Village Home Stores.

…and now the kitchen absorbs the dining space into one cohesive look. In fact, the kitchen and dining spaces are now joined into one concept by an incredible and versatile island design. The overall space has been brightened up significantly with lighter, airy material selections, added lighting, and the installation of mirror in some cabinetry. Two tone kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with large kitchen island, waterfall Cambria counters, Black Stainless appliances, and a custom walnut wood top table. | villagehomestores.com

A large kitchen island is the centerpiece to the new open concept. On the end near the backyard access, a custom table has been placed at dining height. We designed the dining table to be placed right next to the kitchen island. However, the table can be moved out if needed. A custom wood base was built for this design by our carpentry team and our painters painted it to compliment the kitchen cabinetry and trim.Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with custom farmtable base. | villagehomestores.com

A gorgeous wood top from our Craft-Art line was secured on top of the base. With the main kitchen cabinetry all in painted finishes, a woodgrain was a welcomed element. The Black Walnut plank-style wood top adds warmth and an upscale texture to the space. We think its is best complimented with the warm backslash tile glowing with our undercabinet lighting system.

Can’t find the right table to match your new kitchen from Village? Let us make one for you to ensure that it lines up with the overall design concept! Finding the right size and finish can be tricky. But rest assured, we can build just about anything you can dream up. This rich, smooth Black Walnut top was given a stylish and classic “Ogee” edge profile. The feel and sheen of these wood tops are truly heirloom quality. Learn more about these wood tops here in a previous postRemodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with CraftArt Black Walnut tabletop in Ogee edge. | villagehomestores.com

Even though this wood top is a showstopper, the Cambria Quartz in this kitchen is not to be ignored. Take a peek at this image below showing the remodel while it was still in progress. Notice that a piece of Cambria was installed on the cooktop wall for a dramatic look. Need a kitchen remodeler that can manage your project from start to finish? Contact the Quad Cities kitchen experts at Village Home Stores.

This statement wall creates a dramatic contrast of a marble look on the wall with a graphic black hood as an eye-catching continuation from the dark base cabinets. In fact, the Cambria Britannica Warm Quartz seems to almost cascade down behind the hood, flow up from the floor, over the kitchen island, and pour back down again on the other side.

Of course a glassy, gloss finish in a bright space always adds a great upscale detail. This Cambria design includes warm gray veining and is a classic compliment to the dark appliances and painted base cabinetry. A new approach to a two tone kitchen, dark painted bases with a bright and airy upper cabinet in a separate finish. Many times this trend is installed with open or floating shelves for the upper cabinetry. But in this design, we wanted to provide as much usable storage as possible.

The use of mirrors in some of the wall cabinetry does add a lighter weight to the look of the upper cabinets. The “X” design in the cabinet door is an updated and more Transitional style detail. We love the way mirrors help to brighten up a room (plus conceal the cabinet interior). Two tone kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with mirrored door cabinets and X-design. Quartz in a marble look is a great choice for a busy kitchen and large island work surface like this. Cambria Quartz in the Brittanicca Warm design offers a classic look of a marble with a maintenance-free advantage. The island countertop has a standard “Eased” edge applied to it to maintain a cleaner installation and look with the waterfalling edge. Two tone kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with Cambria Brittanicca Warm quartz counters installed with a waterfall design on the island. Curious about waterfall edges? Stop by our showroom in Downtown Geneseo and see our front desk area that showcases this look. Village Home Stores offers many departments all under one roof to make the entire selection process easier on you and your designer. We encourage you to come with any ideas you have collected during your research phase but also take a look around and inside all of our cabinetry displays. We offer so many specialty cabinets and can show them to you. Our Dura Supreme line of cabinetry is loaded with so many great options! Matte Black is one of our favorite home trends and this kitchen rocks the trend so well! The soft, rich look of Dura Supreme’s painted “Graphite” finish on the base cabinetry pairs so well with KitchenAid’s Black Stainless Steel finish appliances. Black Stainless is not just for super contemporary spaces. This Transitionally-styled space is proof of that. Plus it is fingerprint resistant! Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with KitchenAid Black Stainless appliances. KitchenAid was the first in their industry to launch a Black Stainless Steel finish and the look is sophisticated. But a KitchenAid kitchen is at it’s best when in use! A counter-depth French Door refrigerator includes incredible fresh and frozen food storage. A 30″ Combination Wall Oven and Microwave has so many features and a large capacity when needed. Another great appliance detail in this kitchen is the undercounter 15″  Ice Maker. What an absolute dream for anyone who entertains! Of course when you have a pool… people tend to show up.Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with KitchenAid Black Stainless icemaker and custom paneled undercounter beverage cooler. | villagehomestores.com

This 15″ automatic ice maker produces ice that is perfect for every occasion.  It opens to reveal a storage bin that can hold up to 25 pounds of ice. Next to the Ice Maker we installed a beverage cooler with a custom panel to match the cabinetry. This kept the beverage area of the new kitchen looking symmetrical. Panel-ready appliances can be a wonderful custom option. We offer them in many refrigerator and  dishwasher options. We kept the original tile floors in the kitchen but a new tile backsplash was installed.

3″ x 12″ textured tiles in “New Yorker” series and “Taupe” color. We love how they almost have the appearance of being underwater with their texture and reflection. Our stylish adorne series of switches and outlets from legrand looks great on the tile in a contrasting color and matte finish.Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with legrand adorne system of outlets and switches. The square design of this series looks great and is very versitile with options. Since sart home tech is at the top of every homeowner and homebuyer’s wishlist we should also mention this kitchen lighting system takes voice commands! Using the legrand app and connected to an amazon Alexa, we had a lot of fun testing out this new product. Press play below to watch a Facebook live video we taped at this completed jobsite to see how easy it is to use voice commands with this adorne system.

Smart home tech has reached the kitchen industry in a big way over the last few years and this year even more products are set to launch to make your life easier and more enjoyable. This homeowner was able to connect many of the lighting switches in the home and now can even switch lights off and on when they are away from home using the app.Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with legrand connected lighting system. We have completed many new spaces using the adorne series from legrand. These outlet covers are a perfect match to the painted Graphite cabinetry in this kitchen. They match so well  that our “hidden” pop-up outlet in the island is totally camouflaged when it isn’t in use. Remodeled kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa with legrand adorne pop-out outlet.
