This Fall in the Quad Cities we again had the pleasure of seeing our designs and products in many of the QCBR Parade of Homes listings. We have so many opportunities to showcase before and after remodel stories here on the blog. Truth is, we love any chance we can get to also remind you that we can help you if your dream kitchen is in a brand new home you are building! Take a look at this gorgeous example of New Traditional style in Bettendorf, IA in a home built by Tim Dolan Development.

A classic selection of a white painted flat-panel doorstyle is paired with many other on-trend choices for the finished space. The cabinetry is from our Koch Classic line in the “Bristol” door. This door is a clean look with a shaker edge applied and smooth, slab-style drawer fronts.

This is a “Full Overlay” style cabinet which means that the doors and drawer front span across the cabinet faceframe fully. This gives a more customized look to a row of cabinetry and shows less gaps between cabinets. Another custom detail is the built-in refrigerator that has been fit with panels made specifically to fit this 36″ wide model from KitchenAid®. This bottom-mount freezer model includes a platinum interior, spill-resist glass shelves, LED lighting and a built-in icemaker.

There is plenty of storage within the kitchen and access to a walk-in pantry area centrally located in the layout. As you turn the corner you see the main focal point of the kitchen is the wood hood and large range centered on the back wall. This sloping wood hood has been painted to match the kitchen cabinetry and trimmed out in the same crown and under-cabinet molding as the kitchen perimeter. A Broan® internal blower insert and assembly fit with 900 CFM’s is concealed within it.

The cooking zone of this kitchen design has access to the Sharp® microwave drawer in the kitchen island as well as a 48″ gas range packed with features. This 6-burner range from KitchenAid® includes an easy-to-clean chrome electric griddle surface.

A Dual Fuel gas range means that you get the immediate control of heat in a gas cooktop plus the accuracy and consistency of an electric oven for baking. Cook more at once with two oven areas together totaling 6.3 cu. ft. capacity.

Engineered quartz countertops have been installed in a color named “Fossil Grey” with a standard “Eased” edge applied. Quartz provides an durable, nonporous surface perfect for a busy kitchen ready for entertaining. Selecting a subtle grey quartz for the counter is both classic and on-trend right now. This quartz counter leaves the perfect base for adding a jaw-dropping tile backsplash in the kitchen.
long-gray-tile

A 4″ x 12″ elongated gray tile from American Olean’s Stonepeak line is stunning! Available in both glossy (shown) and matte finishes, this “Auru” series can be used in so many styles of spaces! The “Slate” color here gives a trendy ombre detail but the pattern and surroundings ground it back to a Traditional style.

The ceramic delft blue accessories paired with clean whites and the tiled walls give us  bit of a wanderlust for a trip to the Greek Islands or a farmhouse in the South of France. The kitchen has an almost dreamy atmosphere from the light that hangs above the kitchen island.

4 candelabra lights filter through a metal screen shade and cast a unique shadow on the ceiling and surrounding wall cabinets. This light is from Savoy House, a new line we just added to the showroom. The fixture is named “Structure” and we just love it!

Bettendorf, IA- Dark Gray Kitchen Rich With Storage & Style

This Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen has been completely transformed from a medium oak cabinet with laminate tops…
kitchen-before-and-after

…to a rich look of dark gray stained cherry with sparkling tile and counters! A brand new kitchen layout has been planned to now fit a long, unique island. DuraSupreme’s flat-panel “Highland” door is in a cherry wood and the rich “Peppercorn” stain allows the woodgrain to peek through. The new cabinets stretch all the way to the ceiling with a subtle crown molding. A beveled undercabinet molding completes the look beneath the wall cabinets.

A striking compliment to the Peppercorn stain on the cabinetry, is a suite of appliances in KitchenAid®’s new Black Stainless Steel finish. The first in the industry to introduce this true stainless finish. The new kitchen plan removes the original peninsula and now extends the cabinetry all the way down the wall to make space for a tall cabinet fit with a combination wall oven and microwave.

Convection features in the oven AND microwave allow this model to function as a double oven when needed. Wall ovens are fantastic for allowing you a view into the oven without bending over. When items need attention, use the SatinGlide™ Roll-Out Extension Rack for easy access. Across the kitchen is a section of tall pantry cabinets surrounding a 5- door Black Stainless Steel refrigerator.

This French Door model includes a 3-tier freezer drawer plus two refrigerated drawers. This is a full-depth model refrigerator. Read more about the differences between full/standard depth and counter depth refrigerator in this recent blog post. With the original peninsula design out, there is now room for a kitchen island. Our designer at Village Home Stores created an island design with plenty of storage and even seating in this kitchen.

A rectangle island top is extended into a rounded seating area supported by a cabinetry post beneath. The post supports the counter and allows 4-5 barstools to pull up for a comfortable casual dining space. Cambria® Quartz in the “Galloway” design ads sparkle and drama to the kitchen design. The warm grays and soft whites in this quartz allow it to be a great choice for many kitchen and bath projects.

The island support post serves double-duty as a hidden storage area. Why build an empty box of panels and trim if it can be functional too?! Speaking of creative storage, this kitchen is packed with it! When you open up your Tupperware cabinet at home are you fearful of an avalanche of lids every time? Then you need this Rev-A-Shelf® insert in your life!

This insert pulls out to access slotted spaces perfect for sorting lids and containers. Press play below to see this incredible storage solution sure to make the very top of every client’s kitchen wish list.

Another great hidden storage solution is located to the right of the gas cooktop area in the kitchen. This pullout utensil cabinet keeps any busy kitchen organized and has everything within reach! It can even remain open with the user is working at the cooktop station.A Bettendorf, IA kitchen with utensil pullout. DuraSupreme cabinetry in Cherry Peppercorn finish. | VillageHomeStores.com

Each of the metal inserts can be removed for loading, unloading, and cleaning. A special knife storage area is included. This universal knife storage area has movable flex rods that adjust to hold whatever size knives slide into it.

Have you ever seen a beautiful new tile backsplash that immediately looks crowded and busy because of all the outlets and switches that interrupt it? Introducing the adorne® undercabinet system by legrand®. Plenty of power, light, and innovative options that are hidden out of sight underneath your wall cabinetry.
A Bettendorf, IA kitchen with legrand undercabinet lighting and outlet system. | VillageHomeStores.com

This collection can be completely customized for your lifestyle and your layout. Wish you had an outlet in a different location? No problem! This system is modular so you can move outlets and even add accessories like tablet cradles and bluetooth speakers. Like this look? Check out this other recent kitchen remodel we completed that also includes the adorn® system.

The tracks are installed at the seam where your kitchen wall meets the back of your wall cabinetry. This keeps it nearly hidden from plain sight when viewed within the kitchen. With many options and accessories available, the best way to get all of your questions answered about this product is to visit our award-winning showroom at 105 S State Street in Geneseo, IL and see it installed!
A Bettendorf, IA kitchen with legrand undercabinet lighting and outlet system. | VillageHomeStores.com

With the new kitchen installed came the opportunity to also put in a matching custom bench seat. A custom cushion could be made for the bench seat but this customer loves the look of the woodgrain so much they have left it uncovered. On the subject of woodgrain, note the gorgeous new flooring in this kitchen. It is actually not hardwood but instead a Luxury Vinyl Plank from our Adura line. The series is named “Ashford Walnut” and the color is “Foxwood”.

A long hinge allows for the storage access door to be opened and left open without slamming shut. Think of all of the small and unusual spaces in your own home that could be potential storage areas. Don’t hesitate to ask about your options with Village Home Stores to help make the most of these spaces.

Another small space that received a storage upgrade was the corner of the kitchen shown below. Added storage and a small landing space for setting down items. This angled base cabinet can be used in a number of ways in a kitchen design. Here it stands alone as a wonderful storage niche.

Bob Walter Homes- Stunning New Home in Rural Iowa

This week’s featured project is a brand new home built by Bob Walter Homes in rural Iowa. Bob Walter, known for a tradition of excellence, has truly built a gorgeous home! It was a huge pleasure to work with him and these clients to design and provide the cabinetry and lighting for these spaces.  We hope you enjoy taking a look around this stunning new home.

A non-beaded inset cabinet with 5-piece drawer fronts in the “Fairfield” door style lines the perimeter of the kitchen in a Maple wood custom painted with a Sherwin Williams color named “Balanced Beige”. Dovetailed drawers throughout with undermounted full-extension solt-close drawer guides. The inset doors have concealed inset hinges with soft-close feature.

The kitchen island is constructed of a doorstyle named “American” also inset into the faceframe. A Maple wood has been stained in a medium gray “Tarragon” finish. We love the pairing of the cabinet finishes with the varied wood tones in the floors.

The kitchen is from our Custom Amish-made line of cabinetry Das Holz Haus. Located out in the beautiful plains of Illinois, this custom cabinet line is our finest available. From our designs DHH is able to create a superior product with attention every single detail. We take great pride in providing this line to our customers. Knowing they are investing in the very best available and their cabinetry is constructed as an entire project, not piece by piece. While our clients may be investing in this line for construction, what’s outside is not to go unnoticed.

With DHH feeling is believing. What we mean by this is the finish of this product is something that you truly must experience in our showroom. We believe the finish of the product DHH provides for our customers is unmatched by anyone else in our region. That is why we have selected them to be a part of our product lineup at Village Home Stores. Working with a completely custom line makes spaces like this Laundry Room far easier to achieve:

The same “Fairfield” doorstyle from the kitchen is repeated in the Laundry Room but this time a paint named “Knitting Needles” is applied. This space is ready to not just act as a laundry room but so much more. An incredible amount of storage throughout including a bench area with storage drawers below.

We didn’t just provide expert design and custom cabinetry for this home we also provided the lighting.
Great Room lighting selections with Rustic details in a Quad Cities Area home. | VillageHomeStores.com

Including open concept layouts into new homes has made a big impact on the importance of creating a cohesive style to your home. Our new home lighting specialist works closely with you and your budget to help determine your own personal style and tastes. We carefully consider location, scale and how well fixtures near each other can compliment the overall look. The images above represent what fixtures were selected for the lighting visible throughout the Great Room space. (left) The Foyer light by DVI Lighting is in Oil Rubbed Bronze and the Dining Room lighting (center) is a series from our Kichler line that includes rustic wood details. In the lower level of the home we provided lighting and custom cabinetry. How amazing does this farmhouse style billiard fixture look above the table!?! This 3-light fixture from our ELK line includes a centered pulley to raise and lower the unit if needed.

This space would make even a stylish NYC bar owner jealous. The layout, the details, and the lighting all make the space so polished. Pendant lighting from our ELK line and wall sconces by Feiss complete the look. We are certainly ready to pull up a barstool.

But if sitting at the bar isn’t your thing perhaps visiting this Wine Cellar area is? The “Leland” 3-light metal drum pendant by Uttermost is a great centerpiece to the space.

Of course all of the bedrooms need to have a stylish lighting plan in place as well. Our favorite is the Master Bedroom which includes the “Aveline” mini chandelier by Feiss. Elements Home Furnishings and Interior Design did an incredible job stylish this home. We are in awe of this completed Master Suite.

Two wall sconces flank a built-in bench area in the Master Bedroom. The 1-light sconces are from the same series of lighting named “Aveline” by Feiss. In fact a third light from that series is repeated above the tub in the Master Bath. Wall sconces by DVI Lighting flank the framed mirrors.

The Master Bathroom vanity area is designed using DHH’s “Villa” door in a Cherry wood. The rich, warm stain is named “Amber” and includes some distressing for added detail. There were a number of other bathrooms in this home but we did want to share some of them to give you an idea of the variety of styles we can and do see in new homes today.

Gone are the days of ordering one door and finish for an entire home of cabinetry. Instead, we are excited that every space in a home is now treated as it’s own concept. The main Guest Bathroom cabinetry (above) is the same doorstyle as the kitchen. Knotty Alder wood has been stained in an “Anise” stain. A new detail to note is look closely at the corners of the cabinet doors. These doors are still inset in the faceframe but raised pegs have been added for an extra detail.

That same Knotty Alder wood is repeated in the main floor hall bathroom. This time the alder is stained in a color called “Sand Keepsake” with a heavy distressing applied. Open shelves give a more furniture look to the vanities and the copper bowls on top are beautiful.

Aspen Homes- Baths, Laundry and Lighting Complete The Home

Village Home Stores isn’t just beautiful kitchen designs. We also have products and services for the rest of the rooms throughout your home. Today let’s take a tour of some of the other areas of this Apsen Homes LLC parade home beginning in the Master Bathroom.
Master Bathroom cabinetry in a Bettendorf, IA home. Design and materials by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes LLC. | VillageHomeStores.com

Far atop the wishlists of most of our clients… storage! This is the case in a kitchen and especially in a bathroom. With medicine cabinets becoming a thing of the past, framed mirrors offer style but no storage. The vanity area in a bathroom is where a designer must get creative to add as much storage as possible without overcrowding the area.
Master Bathroom cabinetry in a Bettendorf, IA home. Design and materials by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes LLC. | VillageHomeStores.com

Dividing the space between the two vanity sinks is a tall wall cabinet with a single drawer. These 12″ deep cabinets can accommodate a LOT of items within. Plenty of counter space is still surrounding the area and now storage is right within reach without even bending down to reach it!

The vanity includes two sink base cabinets and a large stack of drawers at the center. Cabinetry in the Master Bath is from our Koch Classic line in the “Legacy” door and Cherry wood stained the same “Stone” stain as the kitchen.  A Black accent glaze has been applied to highlight the details of the doors and drawerfronts.  The double-bowl vanity top is an Engineered Quartz.

Klondike’s “Calcutta Gold” quartz spreads the full width of the vanity with a backsplash and end splashes applied. Rectangle vanity sinks have been undermounted to the quartz and 8″ cc faucets in a bright polished chrome complete the look.  Two of the other bathrooms include a cultured marble vanity top. Cultured marble is a term for a molded top that includes an integrated vanity sink when it is made.

These tops are made in the U.S.A. from our Onyx Collection line. Standard sizes or custom, Onyx can make a top for your project. The look of cultured marble has changed dramatically over the years. What used to be a glossy, marbled look is now sleek and modern. Faux granites have replaced marbles and solid, matte finish tops like these are a classic choice.

Heartland Builders- A New Home With Contemporary Details

Village Home Stores has the great privilege to design so many incredible kitchens in a year. Lifestyle magazines, the internet, and apps like Pinterest and Houzz have revolutionized how our customers are able to narrow down their own personal styles. Because these platforms can showcase that every project can be different from the next, our own clients are beginning to embrace a very important revelation in 2017: you don’t have to do whatever your neighbor is doing. It is your home, make it reflect you! Even in the category of New Construction homes we still can say that every single home is different from the next. Take for example, this new Colona, IL home completed by Heartland Builders:
Contemporary style kitchen in a home by Heartland Builders including black painted Koch cabinets and quartz counters. | VillageHomeStores.com

We have shared countless white painted kitchens here on the blog but this space is a refreshing contrast. Black painted cabinetry from our Koch Classic line has been installed in the full-overlay “Savannah” door. An L-shaped layout is met in the corner with a pantry and a bat-wing shaped kitchen island angles in towards the kitchen. Seating for 4 surrounds the kitchen island.

The kitchen sink is in the very center of the island and a bar-height top blocks view into the sink from the Living Room area. Quartz tops in the “Fossil Grey” color are installed in a standard Eased edge profile. This new Maytag® french door refrigerator includes the easy-to-clean, Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel finish. The refrigerator caps the end of the kitchen area and in a small niche for the Great Room a bar area has been installed.

This space is stylish and convenient when entertaining. A glass-front beverage cooler from our Danby® line frees up space in the main refrigerator and allows hosts and guest easy access to beverages. Our Diode LED undercabinet lighting perfectly illuminates the American Olean “Appeal” glass mosaic backsplash.  This bar area has been tiled completely in the “Transcendent” mosaic. As mentioned before, the appliance package in this new home is by Maytag®.  Maytag is dependable and has the warranty to back that statement up! Each of the new Maytag® appliances in this space comes with a 10 year limited parts warranty on the main components of the unit. Stop by or call our expert appliance team at (309) 944-1344 to learn more about this warranty exclusive to Maytag®.

The appliances include the french door refrigerator, top-control dishwasher, microwave hood, and convection gas range. This kitchen has been installed within a great room that includes a living room area and dining space. The same Luxury Vinyl Tile has been installed throughout the foyer, great room, kitchen, pantry, dinette, hall, mud room, and laundry. The lighting selections for this home are fantastic and each can stand alone as a very unique art piece! Four elongated LED pendants hang above the kitchen island. These pendants from our Kuzco line are in the Satin Nickel finish. Sometimes a big design impact can be made with a low-profile item. These long, narrow fixtures are a great example. They almost create columns to the island but are easy to see past and around in the open space.

A 4-light chandelier hangs in the dinette area. This light is named “Coddington” and is from our Feiss line. Talk about sculptural! We are reminded of the balance and shapes of an Alexander Calder mobile when seeing this light.

In the great room space a large 60″ ceiling fan is stunning! This fan is named “Proxima” and is from our Quorum line. The Satin Nickel finish is a perfect choice in this completed space. When turned on, it provides a lot of air flow and when the fan is turned off, it has an almost sculptural look.

That corner pantry may look large enough, but open the doors and you will find that this is just a pantry front. This cabinet walk-through pantry front leads to a large walk-in pantry area. There is plenty of style AND storage in this space. New homes like this tend to have an “Open Concept” to the spaces but you need to plan for including plenty of storage options concealed from that “open” area. This walk-in pantry if perfect for food storage but also can be great for  other bulk household items.
