In our 2019 booth we introduced a brand new full-access cabinet line named WynnBrooke. We are very excited to roll out this new option for our customers and this “Frost” White display will soon be installed in our conference room at the store. You can learn more about this cabinet line here on their website. We also showcased some DIY stick-on wall planks installed in our booth. This great product that can be used for so many fun projects. We covered the back wall surface of our booth in the “Pewter” wall plank adding floating shelves and our LED back-lit sign.

Our Home Show booth included new and exciting product launches like the connected appliances Whirlpool has introduced recently. What is a “connected range” and how can voice commands and scan-to-cook features make your life easier? We would LOVE to answer those questions for you. The Black Stainless connected range we brought to the home show is now back in our appliance showroom. Our expert sales team will explain all of the great features and benefits these “smart” appliances have to offer.

“We have a lot of fun every year at the Home Show. We try and make our booth open, inviting, and exciting. This show is our opportunity to invite guests into our booth to meet our team and get all of their questions answered about our store and our process”

-Elizabeth Round, Village Team Member

This year we installed a lighting grouping that focused on some of the current trends we are seeing in finish and style. “Gold” finishes are definately back in style but the new take on this trend is subtle, brushed, and can be blended with other metals and finishes well. We have seen lighting trends shift from a Farmhouse style into a more Coastal look. We had a lot of interest in the weathered, wooden-beaded chandelier from our booth.

We included two engineered quartz countertops in our cabinet displays this year. We answered so many questions about countertop surfaces and their differences from guests who visited us. The large kitchen island we displayed included one of our promotional-priced quartz surfaces named “Rolling Fog” (shown below on left with Ogee Edge). Learn more about our 2019 Quartz promotion here in a past blog post.

The back wall of our booth had a stunning statement quartz surface from our Cambria Quartz line. The Skara Brae design (shown above on right) blends on-trend grays and whites in an innovative natural-stone lookalike pattern. This series of quartz from Cambria offers you the look of a marble pattern with the maintenance-free piece of mind you get by investing in quartz surfaces.

Hazelwood Homes- White Painted Kitchen With Glaze and Black Island

Our first featured kitchen of the year is in a brand new home built in Geneseo, IL by the team at Hazelwood Homes. This space is a white painted kitchen with an applied glaze and a black painted accent island. It also includes quartz counters, an incredible flooring choice, and a Stainless Steel appliance package. We work closely with our new construction clients to build a team of experts from each department of our store needed. We are all one team working along with you to reach one vision. That way the time spent working on your project in and out of the Village Home Stores showroom is spent wisely. We value your time and we want to see you happy in your new home with the selections you have made from us. The process of building a home can be overwhelming but we do our best to make it fun an exciting. No matter if you are building, remodeling, or just browsing our blog for ideas, there are a lot of great material and design details in this space so let’s jump right in.

What a beautiful space! Selecting white kitchen cabinetry in a great room kitchen setting is always a wonderful choice to keep the entire open concept light and airy. It is a classic cabinet finish that has remained on home magazines covers for years and years. This kitchen space takes a classic look to a whole new level though with added details and material choices that keep it functional and very eye-catching. Beginning with the statement accent island in the center of the kitchen.

This single-level kitchen island includes storage on three sides, outlets on each end, and an overhang for counter-height seating. A gradual, curved radius has been applied to that overhang to soften the look. This island is the best area to showcase the countertop selection for the kitchen. The “Summerhill” design from Cambria Quartz is as durable as it is gorgeous. A blend of expertly curated neutral quartz colors makes it work with so many styles and material combinations. Cambria’s innovative fabrication process even adds a natural looking veining to the slabs. This gives you the look of natural stone with a control of color. It is also an incredibly durable product and perfect surface for any active kitchen. Learn more about Cambria Quartz here in a past blog post.

Above is a closer shot of the “Summerhill” tops in this kitchen. Notice how it includes whites, beiges, grays, AND even a black fleck! Stop in and see samples and installed examples of Cambria Quartz at our showroom. Curious how a Cambria color will look in your existing kitchen? There’s an AR app to “try” them on! Learn more here on the Cambria site! The perimeter counters in this kitchen have been an “Ogee” edge applied for added style and dimension. A great way to show off that the Cambria quartz colors are throughout the entire slab of material from top to bottom. Now do us a favor. Scroll back up to the very first image of this kitchen and look at the inset doorstyle of the kitchen cabinets we’ll wait right here for you to return… and reveal that AREN’T inset doors at all! But at first glance did we have you tricked?

Geneseo, IL kitchen design with Koch Cabinetry and Whirlpool appliances. Design and materials by Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | villagehomestores.com

Inset cabinetry is an incredible look and a very classic choice for any kitchen design. But in this home, we have given the illusion of a high-end inset door at a fraction of the investment. This is the “Lexington” door from our Koch Express line of cabinetry. It has been painted in the “White” finish and a “Black Accent” has been applied to the door details. That added accent is what give the illusion of a door inset and shadowed. This small detail added to a traditional-overlay cabinet door gives a great look. It also helps to compliment the black island cabinetry perfectly. We love how the kitchen island pendants compliment the appliances in this space. These 16 1/2″ pendant lights are from Quorum’s Signature Collection and are in the Satin Nickel finish. Satin nickel is a great compliment to the Whirlpool Stainless Steel appliances.

Geneseo, IL kitchen design with Koch Cabinetry and tall hood with cathedral ceiling. Design by Chris Robinson of Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. | villagehomestores.com

A 26 cu. ft. French Door refrigerator with double drawers and dual icemakers is a great choice for this busy kitchen. The focal point of this wall s the 30″ wide 5-burner gas cooktop with a tall chimney hood above. Shop all of our appliances any day, any time here on our new mobile-friendly website. What a great look for this wall of the kitchen design! Look at how the tile extends all of the way up to meet the angled ceiling behind the hood. A clean look on the edge of that tile is achieved by using a metal edge band to “cap” off the ends in a complimenting Nickel finish.

Oh trust us, we know you noticed that pot-filler faucet above the cooktop right away! Our envy-radar also went off when we saw it. Choices like these are what make a space gorgeous AND functional. We wanted to also showcase here the use of a classic subway tile in white paired with an accent tile and contrasting grout. White subway tile with a dark contrasting grout is an on-trend look but it’s not for everyone. In this kitchen, it would have been a very busy look to have a darker contrast. This subtle color choice pulls a neutral from the counter surface color and the look is great. The accent tile here is from Epic Stone’s Interlocking series in the “Everest” color combination. We also used this same accent tile in one of the tiled showers in the home (shown below).

This shower includes an elongated version of a subway tile These tiles are 4″ x 16″ and installed horizontally, they add a stylish detail while helping to make the shower seem wider. That same accent tile fro the kitchen is used as a band around the shower and also reappears on the front face of the corner bench. A 2″ hexagon tile is used here as the shower floor. Notice also the installation of a shower grab bar at the entrance. See more examples of grab bars we have installed here in this Houzz ideabook. This has become a common request from our clients of all ages and abilities. Installing assistance like this that will help a customer age-at-home and just remain safe is always a great investment!

Back to the kitchen where we can mention another important investment. The flooring you choose for a new home is so important. In an open concept layout like this, our COREtec engineered plank floors are a great choice. COREtec comes in a large variety of wood styles and finishes so there truly is something for any space. What our COREtec customers love beyond the look is the performance! These surfaces are kidproof, waterproof, and petproof! For our remodel customers they are great because they can also easily be installed over existing hard surfaces. Contact a flooring expert at Village Home Stores to learn more.

Edgebrooke Homes- Kitchen With Blue Island in Bettendorf, Iowa

Blue cabinetry is having more than just a “moment” in the Kitchen and Bath industry! We have installed so many stunning spaces over the past fews years that have introduced a painted blue finish and now it is become such a staple option for Transitional, Scandinavian, and Modern Farmhouse styled spaces. Blue cabinetry is forecasted to remain an accent color for many years to come. Our Koch Classic Cabinetry line makes a neutral blue-gray paint called “Charcoal Blue” and it truly makes a great statement as the island finish in this Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Blue and white cabinet kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa home. The main kitchen perimeter is a “White” painted cabinetry in the same “Bristol” doorstyle as the kitchen island. Staggered heights and depths of wall cabinetry can help to add interest to a kitchen design that has tall ceilings. This kitchen also includes two heights for casual dining. A large dinette area at dining height, and a single-level kitchen island extends to add more seating at the island. Blue and white kitchen with dining and kitchen island seating in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. The pantry and refrigerator wall of the kitchen actually conceals a hidden feature. The pantry doors open to reveal access to the large walk-in pantry space that turns the corner behind the wall of cabinetry. This same look can be applied in a remodel situation with existing closets or unique spaces. Ask your designer at Village Home Stores how we can include one in your own design. Walk-through pantry front in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Village Home Stores doesn’t want to just know what kitchen spaces inspire you… we want to know what your own dream kitchen looks like. We know it can be difficult for our clients to have a clear vision of what that looks like early on in the design phase. That is why we are here to help. You showing us spaces and ideas that inspire you, helps us build a concept for your own space and tastes.  We have a number of great specialty cabinet options like this pantry front that can take your design to the next level! Press play below to see the pantry doors open up to reveal the hidden room behind them.

The tall pantry cabinet is balanced by the refrigerator surround on the opposite end of this wall. Also included on this wall is a microwave drawer unit. Microwave drawers are a great way to keep the microwave appliance off of the counter and reachable for any users. Another great location for a microwave drawer is in a kitchen island. This section of the featured kitchen creates a great landing space of countertop for loading and unloading the refrigerator and also a work surface for microwave use and food prep. Sharp microwave drawer in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Counter depth refrigerator models can really help you so much when the design demands it for traffic paths and space allowances. In this kitchen, a standard depth unit works perfectly “built-in” against the wall on one side and with a tall, deep panel on the other. A deep cabinet above completes the look. The 36″ wide Whirlpool model fits and offers so much great storage. It also stays looking great with a Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel finish that easily wipes clean. Whirlpool WRF555SDFZ French Door Refrigerator in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. The kitchen island includes the kitchen sink and a Whirlpool dishwasher. This dishwasher is quiet at just 47 decibels (normal conversation is at about 50 dba). A TotalCoverage Spray Arm cleans with twice the jets as usual and an In-Door Silverware Basket frees up rack space by easily fitting on the front of the lower rack or in the door to make room for more dishes. Charcoal Blue painted kitchen island and Whirlpool dishwasher in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. Moline, IL- Master Bath Remodel Removes Jacuzzi, Adds Storage Bench

We are not just beautiful kitchen remodels. Since the launch of our Full Project Management Program, we have gained quite the reputation for becoming a reliable, time-efficient, and customer-focused choice in the Quad Cities region for full bathroom remodels as well! This Moline, IL Master Bathroom is our featured project this week because it includes many items that top wishlists of all our bath remodel customers. Take a look at this elegant Master Bathroom:Custom tiled shower and a double bowl vanity in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Of course a lot of counter space and two sinks are a priority in any Master Bathroom design. This Moline bath had a generous amount of wall space available for the vanity area. Our designer from Village Home Stores included as much drawer storage as possible from our Dura Supreme line of cabinetry. The Full-Overlay Craftsman door was selected in a rich Cherry wood and “Peppercorn” finish. What does Full-Overlay mean? Take a look at the image below and notice the small gaps between the doors and drawers:Cherry Peppercorn double vanity cabinetry by Dura Supreme in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Traditional overlay would leave gaps about 2-3 times larger that what you see here. In a Full Overlay style (like shown), those gaps are minimal. This Gives your doors and drawers more space to spread across the faceframe of the cabinet openings behind them. Full overlay styles also help to hide the seams of cabinets when you install them in a long row like we have done here. It is hard to tell where each individual cabinet begins and ends. One jaw-dropping material choice in this Master Bath is the Cambra Quartz design selection. “Ellesmere” is a rich and sparkling blend of so many colors and it looks right at home in this Master Suite. Cambria Ellesmere quartz in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

In fact Ellesmere has some of the same colors the original bathroom had. Rich gold metallics and vibrant earthtones. On the subject of the original bathroom design, that brings us back to that customer wishlist. In the past few years we have removed so many large Jacuzzi tubs from Master Bathrooms. Clients found that this trend as not as practical for their lifestyle. Instead we are often asked to present a solution that borrows that space for something else. Sometimes this is a closet, a smaller tub with more room for a shower, or even a storage bench.

Because 9 times out of 10 these giant soaking tubs were installed beneath a large window area, bench seating really does look perfect there. In this bathroom we created a space matching the same Cherry “Peppercorn” cabinetry and ordered a wood top to match. A custom cushion is already on order for this bench. Yes it looks cool but look at all those drawers! With two walk-in closets already in the room, these drawers can be used for linen storage or toiletries. Cherry bench cabinetry with wood top by Dura Supreme in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Above the original tub are there was a hanging crystal chandelier. The new light fixture included in the Master Bath is an updated take on a traditional chandelier. This orb light by Feiss takes a modern light style and adds sparkle on the interior of the polished nickel metal. We have installed this same light this year into bedrooms, foyers, and even above kitchen islands. Come see sparkle it in person because we have two hanging above our Appliance Sales desk as well in the showroom!Feiss sparkle orb light in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

The shower area also saw many updates to give a more bright and open look. You don’t need a gigantic amount of space to include a lot of features into a custom tiled shower. This 3-wall alcove is proof of that. Take a peek at the before and after images below:Before and after of a custom tiled shower in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Dual shower heads and now tiled all the way to the ceiling, this tiled shower looks great! A custom glass shower door includes a fixed panel of glass on the right and a hinged entry door on the left. Dated polished brass fixtures were replaced with bright polished chrome for the shower and faucet finishes. Double shower in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

A short step up and into the tiled shower is trimmed off nicely with metallic strips at the edges. The Phenix Ravello series of tile was used throughout the bathroom. A 13″ x 13″ “Champagne” tile was installed as the main bathroom floor and on the shower walls. A smaller 2″x 2″ “Pearl” tile was used as the shower base. Tiled shower entry with glass door in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

A decorative row of tile was selected to tie together the wall tile and the Cambria counters on the nearby vanity. This geometric tile from Glazzio’s Hexagon series is a perfect pairing! The Tranquil colors bring in the wall and floor tile and also compliment the cabinet and quartz colors! Tiled shower with a glass corner shelf in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Of course the best part about creating a custom tiled shower with our clients is customizing it with them! Adding niches, benches, and shelves are a great way to add practical elements that can look great too! This shower showcases a glass corner shelf added up within reach of the shower user. This can be a great shelf for toiletries or razors. We also added a corner bench/footrest below that. Tiled shower with a corner footrest shelf in a Moline, IL bathroom remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villaehomestores.com

Perfect for more toiletries or resting a leg while shaving. We even added a strip of accent tile to the front face of the shelf for another little custom detail. Great designs really are made with detail choices like that. Beautiful spaces are really created by layers of details. Who would want a basic white lightswitch to distract from all of these other stunning choices? Our Adorne series by legrand is far from basic! This series of wall switches and outlets offer an updated look and so many color combination possibilities! Geneseo, IL Farmhouse Kitchen Harvests Style and Comfort

Just in time for harvest in the Midwest, this week’s remodel feature is a tailored and updated take on country charm. Who says having a house and some acreage means all the best things should happen outside? While the kitchen in this Geneseo, IL rural home boasts some incredible views outside the windows, the view is pretty great in here! Take a look at this bright and cheerful new kitchen remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores.Koch cabinetry, Cambria Swanbridge quartz, and Whirlpool appliances in a Geneseo kitchen. Complete remodel from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

White painted cabinetry, marble-look tops, stainless appliances, and soft blue-gray finishes give a refreshing new look to the space. A kitchen layout with lots of new storage and counter space greets you from the back door as well as this (above) view in from a pass-through window to the Living Room. But even with these great windows, the kitchen wasn’t always this bright and storage-focused. Like many homes over the years, the kitchen had evolved into a need for more storage space and new locations for appliances.

When working with a kitchen design expert at Village Home Stores you will help to qualify what layout and specialty cabinets will be the best way to utilize the space that you have available. In this kitchen we did not remove any walls or even soffits above. Instead, we accessed the locations of the major appliances and even found room for a dishwasher in the new design. The before and after transformation of this corner gives you an idea of how a clean, consistent depth cabinet layout can keep so much stored out of sight and free up tons of counter space. Koch cabinetry, Cambria Swanbridge quartz, and blue subway tile backsplash in a Geneseo kitchen. Complete remodel from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

The corner at the opposite end of the U-shaped kitchen was another area to be addressed. In the original space a small tiled landing zone was set up next to a crowded range area by the back door entry to the kitchen.  That made the space feel cramped and crowded to the user at the cooktop. A tiled wall is great… but if you have ever had to keep a tiled countertop wiped clean you know it can be a constant struggle with the grout lines. There was also no storage in the base area of that corner.

The new kitchen design creates a landing zone as a forward-facing drop zone area. A wall cabinet above and a standard base cabinet and drawer below plus a wall outlet from our legrand radiant collection that is fit with USB charging ports. A strip of our diode LED tape lights illuminates the drop zone and new quartz countertops perfectly. This new kitchen features our Koch Classic Cabinetry line in a beaded doorstyle named Orleans that has been painted with a White finish.

Did you notice we even fit a tall pantry into the room? Pantry cabinets can be such a functional investment even if you can’t fit a 24″ deep one in. The original kitchen had a single wall cabinet and shelves set up below the pass-through window.

The new kitchen now includes this tall pantry cabinet 12″ deep and 30″ wide. The top door section of the pantry has a finished interior and the doors have glass inserts for a display area. You would be so thrilled at the amount of storage a single cabinet like this can offer you. If you have an unused wall in your kitchen, nearby hallway, or even dining space it may be a great location for a shallow pantry. Crown molding on top gives it a finished look and the tall doors of this pantry are the best doors to showcase the beaded, cottage style center panels. narrow pantry cabinet in a remodeled kitchen from Village Home Stores.

In the new layout, the range location has been swapped with the refrigerator for a more functional use of the kitchen space. You can see the drop zone mentioned previously to the left of the refrigerator. A narrow cabinet to the right designates an area for baking sheets and cutting boards in the new plan.Whirlpool french door refrigerator and baking sheet organized cabinet in a Geneseo kitchen. A full depth model from Whirlpool was used because walkway distances were not an issue with no kitchen island in this plan. In fact, this full depth model has a total of 25 cu. ft. of storage space including gallon door bins and a full-width temperature controlled deli drawer. There is even an interior water dispenser inside the refrigerator. That keeps the front of the french door refrigerator smooth and stylish. A slide-in front-control electric range sits below with landing space on each side of it. This makes the cooking zone ideal for users during prep and cooking activity. So much space and just steps from pantry storage, fresh food storage in the refrigerator and the kitchen sink to the right. We love how these front-control range designs leave the back area where the cooktop meets the wall clear for tile. Whirlpool front control electric range WEC310S0FS in a Geneseo kitchen.
