Wall Removal and a Peek At Our Kitchen Remodel Process

Village Home Stores East Moline Quad Cities remodel

This kitchen in East Moline, IL has a whole new look and layout. We removed a dividing wall to make room for more natural light and an island design with counter-height seating. Warm, Rustic Beech Koch Cabinetry in the Seneca door and Briarwood stain has been accented with a Black glaze. The mixed metals of copper, Oil-Rubbed Bronze and Black Stainless look amazing. Plus check out the bright statement with that island accent lighting (more on that later)! We absolutely love how this kitchen turned out.

The original kitchen was very nice, but the layout of the cabinetry was awkward and secluded from the front room. This made it a great candidate for a wall removal remodel. Not every kitchen we remodel needs a wall removed to be incredible. In this home however, having the entire space open now seems like that is what the layout should have been all along. In this kitchen we removed a wall and soffit during the remodel process to achieve that open concept. Take a look at the original soffits and dividing wall between the living room and kitchen shown in the before photo below.

What is The Village Process Like?

If you are looking to remodel your kitchen anytime soon you are in the right place! This blog can be such a useful place to find inspiration and help qualify your own likes and dislikes. We hope that Village Home Stores can be a part of your research process AND your remodel process. Are you just seeking products and ideas and to do the remodel work yourself? That’s great! Village Home Stores can provide you with an expertly prepared design and quality materials for you to DIY to your hearts content. But if you don’t have the time or skill to do that, our start-to-finish Project Management process may be the perfect fit for your timeline and your budget. What do we mean when we say our remodel customers can have us manage their job from “start-to-finish” ? It means that from the very first time you message us online or stop by, we are working for you and with you to get you into your finished space. No matter who is doing the remodel work, your first step is the same: just reach out to our team to schedule a Complementary Consultation.

We schedule these consultations in our showroom before visiting your home so that you can get a better understanding of everything we offer and we are able to walk you through our estimating phases. Most people will only remodel a kitchen or bathroom in a home once or twice in a lifetime. It can be overwhelming to know where to start and what happens next. The great news is that we do this all the time! We are here to help walk you through our process and keep you on track and on budget. We want to help you to enjoy this process as much as possible. During this Consultation we will answer your questions and walk you through when you can expect to see your designs and estimates during our phases and discuss our payment options. We will also ask you some questions about the project, your goals, your budget, and who will be doing the work. There is a reason why budget conversations happen well before we begin estimating the project. This is to help us all stay on task and on track when designing your new space. After this Consultation, we will schedule a date for a Jobsite Visit in your home to gather information for us to begin the design phase.

Sometimes Our Biggest Skeptics Become Our Best Cheerleaders

Do you read every detail of a menu item before ordering at a restaurant? Do you answer “of course” when asked if you want your receipt? Did you already take general dimensions of your kitchen layout for us… on graph paper… and use a ruler? Do you have an engineering degree? Does your Summer Vacation this year have a customized itinerary? Have you started a spreadsheet for your remodel project already in Excel or Google Docs? If you answered yes to any of those questions then wow! You love the details and you respect the process! And guess what? You are going to be a HUGE fan of the Village Home Stores remodel process. We love the look on this type of customer’s face when we present our process checklists and walk them through our current and local budget data for projects like theirs. Some of our most appreciative start-to-finish customers are people who could have even done some of the work themselves. But who has the time or energy? We do!

Village Home Stores uses the latest tech available to record data and communicate with our remodel customers in the Quad Cities Region. That means our start to finish kitchen and bath remodel process changes and adapts every time we complete a job.

Let Us Get To Work For You

There is a lot to be done before you can enjoy your new space and gathering estimates is a big part of that. The truth is there are 3 and a half pages of phases and checklists before we even reach the phrase “Jobsite binder is delivered and job begins” in our process. There are 9 phases of our process and 7 of those happen before we begin demo. We won’t reveal every phase in detail here but we can summarize them a bit. After that Complimentary Consultation in our showroom we will come out to your home to gather information. Then we will get to work preparing a design to be presented to you. Our goal is to ask enough qualifying questions ahead of the design phase that we can present to you initial designs that are successful. We will next discuss any changes needed to the design and begin making product selections in the showroom. During this Design Presentation meeting in the showroom we will also have you meet with other Village team members in any departments you may need products from. During this meeting we will document you selections and help guide you based on our budget conversations. You will also be given private login information at this meeting so that you can begin to access your design, estimates, and eventually contracts and schedules moving forward. Once all of the work to be done is documented by our team, and we have a clear design concept, we can schedule a Contractor Meeting at your home.

All of your subcontractors and a team of Village experts created just for you and your project meet at your home together to prepare accurate estimates.
What sets Village Home Stores apart from other kitchen remodelers? Our process! All of your subcontractors and a team of Village experts created just for you and your project meet at your home together to prepare accurate estimates.

All of the subcontractors we anticipate needing for your project will meet your village designer and our project estimator in your home. All together at the same time. Sounds like an obvious need right? But you would be surprised how rare this is in our industry. At Village Home Stores we believe it is a key element to a successful estimating and end result for all parties involved. Here we can clarify what work is to be completed and included in estimates and allow the subs to have some dialog about the work to be done.

Our start-to-finish Project Management program at Village Home Stores changes and adapts with every project. We have also worked hard to curate a list of reliable, respectful subcontractors who can do quality work for you at a fair price. It has taken some time to get there, but we truly believe we can now say with confidence that our in-house and subcontractor staff are the very best you can ask to work in your home. We are so thankful to continue to get compliments on our staff and the subcontractors we send to our clients’ homes.

What Will An Estimate Include?

But we haven’t mentioned an actual bid or pricing yet? That’s right! We have agreed on a design, selected materials with our experts and your budget in mind, and have detailed estimates for the work to be done and now we can present you an estimate. You will receive a complete estimate along with a detailed inclusion sheet of the work included in that estimate. This estimate will be as accurate as possible before work begins. Of course there can be unforeseeable issues to come up any time you remodel a home. Rest assured that we have a process for that as well. Our crews are used to working together and communicating with you and each other to come up with solutions when problems come up. During your project our team stay customer-focused and solution-focused if issues arise.

Enough about our process! Let us show you around this incredible new kitchen in East Moline, IL. What a warm and open space! This new cabinet layout is packed with great storage and details. Glazzio glass wall tiles in two sizes with an accent listel in an Oil Rubbed Bronze finish cover the kitchen walls. A L-shaped layout with large center island includes plenty of walkway space between the surfaces now that the kitchen wall has been removed. We also removed that kitchen soffit and reworked the ceiling to better compliment the rest of the open areas of the home. The new design truly suits the home perfectly!

With a new flow to the entire space, flooring needed to be a new consistent surface throughout. Once again we are sharing a kitchen with our best-selling COREtec Luxury Vinyl Plank floors here on the blog. Sorry to sound like a broken record repeating itself but this COREtec Plus HD series is extremely durable and waterproof. It has the look and texture of a rustic wood surface. The Barnwood Rustic Pine selected for this kitchen is a great choice to pull from the cabinet stain and accent glaze. We just had two new racks of samples delivered for this product so if you are considering a new flooring surface for your home please come see your options. But can we take a moment please and talk about this lighted island!?!?!

This customer chose to install their Cambria Quartz in the Berkley design in a double-thick edge profile on the island. WOW! When they made that accent choice, the homeowner thought that accenting it even more with some lighting could make for a very cool effect. He was right! The look is pretty stunning day and night. This low-profile low-voltage tape light can be installed in a lot of fun ways. Because it is low-voltage, this island accent light can become the perfect nightlight or glow in the evening while watching TV or spending time out on the wrap-around deck.

The same Diode tape light is also installed underneath and above the kitchen perimeter cabinetry. We even concealed something else underneath the cabinets to keep the look clean. All of the kitchen switches and outlets are located in the recessed area under the wall cabinetry. This keeps the wall tile area smooth and un-interrupted. The Cambria quartz on the kitchen perimeter was installed with a farmhouse hammered copper Sinkology single-well sink and Delta Leland faucet.

This Delta Leland faucet comes with the new ShieldSpray Technology. This diverted spray option delivers a simple way to clean with precision while containing mess and splatter. A concentrated jet of water powers stubborn messes away in the center as a water shield simultaneously contains splatter and clears off the mess. It is like a forcefield around the spray power that keeps water from spraying everywhere. Learn more about ShieldSpray and see it in action here in this short YouTube clip.

Mixing metal finishes and textures can be such a great look in a rustic-styled space. This kitchen includes Oil Rubbed Bronze hardware, lighting, and faucets and a blend of Copper and Stainless. The farmsink is a hammered copper finish and the unique 30″ Zline hood is a mix of smooth copper and black trim. KitchenAid appliances in the Black Stainless finish add drama and a soft texture. If a silvery Stainless seems like it will look too modern in your space, be sure to stop by and see Black Stainless in person! This finish is so versatile and available in a lot of models. We did include on Stainless appliance in the kitchen. Tucked unto the interior corner of the island is a microwave drawer in a true Stainless Steel finish. Mixing metals can be done right and we love the look! Let our team help you with the total vision for your design.

A great kitchen design comes together in the details. Undercabinet molding helps to conceal those lights and outlets. Small details can make a big difference in the look of the overall finished space. In this kitchen the wall tile continues up around the kitchen window and is “capped” off by a valance and matching wooden panel above. The crown molding for the cabinetry has added interest with a change in depth on the corner cabinet.

A Great Room Kitchen With Rustic Details- Hazelwood Homes

We just stopped by this new Hazelwood Home in Geneseo, IL and we are in love with every detail. New homes can often miss out on the character and uniqueness that older homes have. We are happy to report that this one is brand new but already has set itself apart! With great rustic details and an open concept perfect for a busy household, this great room and kitchen turned out incredible! Take a look!

Painted Koch Cabinetry in the Maple Savannah doorstyle and “Ivory” finish creates an L-shaped perimeter to the kitchen. One focal wall includes the cooking zone with cooktop, hood, and wall ovens. The other wall is home to the taller, deeper elements like the refrigerator and pantry area. The kitchen is located as part of an open living room, dinette area, and hearth room. All of these spaces are within sight of each other and the way this family has styled the space is so perfect.

The island functions as a kitchen work surface and added casual dining space. The island cabinetry is also from our Koch Cabinetry line repeating the same doorstyle but this time in a Birch wood and “Stone” stain. We love how the gray stain allows the character of the wood-grain to be highlighted. Three pendant lights hang above the kitchen island. These “Urban Renewal” pendants from our Feiss line are so transitional in style they would look right at home here in this rustic setting as well as a historic home or even a modern eclectic city loft.

Doesn’t that wrapped beam in the kitchen and the beamed ceilings in the lofted living room space add so much character!? We also included a modern farmhouse detail to the back of the island. The kitchen island is a single-level design and in place of wainscot doors or a smooth panel, we created an “X” design. This look is achieved with paneling, trim, and a skilled carpenter. There is even an outlet tucked away under the overhang. Island outlets like this are perfect for kitchen appliances but also laptops and other work-from-home devices or a homework station power source.

The kitchen island is also the kitchen clean up zone. The kitchen sink and dishwasher are located right at the center of all activity. This dishwasher from Whirlpool is quiet at just 47 dba (normal conversation noise measures around 50 dba). It also has a third-level rack inside for items like lids and utensils. Shop appliances from Village Home Stores any day, any time at villagehomestores.com or stop by and see us at 105 S State in downtown Geneseo, IL.

The kitchen sink introduces another great texture to the space, hammered copper. This double-well sink is a great compliment to the granite counters and mixed metals throughout the great room area. We have a well-executed blend of Oil-Rubbed Bronze, Stainless Steel, Copper, and even Wrought Iron in this space. Mixing metals may sound challenging to some, but it is such a great look! Take a look at another past project feature that blends copper, stainless, bronze and even black stainless all in one kitchen space!

Nothing can compare to the look and history that natural stone can bring to a project. As hard as engineered surface products are trying (and they are) to recreate the look of a natural stone, they will never rebuild the unique history each slab holds. This kitchen includes countertops in Desert Beach granite with a chiseled edge profile applied.

This edge detail is not for everyone, or every project. Here it adds the perfect blend of rugged and rustic to a smooth and polished stone surface. The wall surface in the kitchen was another area available for a new texture to be introduced. With so much movement and natural veining to the granite counters, a more controlled and consistent color in a wall surface was needed.

Rustic Transitional kitchen in a great room with ivory painted Koch cabinets and Chimney hood. Kitchen design and materials from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes.

Travertine 3×6 tiles in the color “Light Noche” add a storied texture to the kitchen walls. Travertine is a tile that is often overlooked for transitional spaces but it deserves it’s spotlight here. This textured and tumbled tile can work in many styles including Italianate, heavy traditional, modern farmhouse, and Spanish-styled spaces. In this high-ceiling kitchen, we had the tilers install the Travertine to the top of the kitchen cabinet line. The Stainless canopy hood is installed over the surface.

Whirlpool 30" 5 burner gas cooktop in Stainless Steel. Kitchen design and appliances from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. Geneseo/Quad Cities

Cooking with a gas is ideal for any busy kitchen and this cooktop is ready for any task! A five burner gas cooktop layout with continuous grates allow you to shift BTUs quickly and even slide a pan to another location. This cooktop measures 30″ wide and can be installed into a cooktop cabinet. Here we used a “reversed” base layout giving open cabinet doors above and a usable lower drawer below. Your appliance salesperson at Village Home Stores will work closely with your cabinet designer to check that the correct finished look is achieved. The same is the case for wall ovens.

Whirlpool combination wall microwave convection oven in Stainless Steel. Kitchen design and appliances from Village Home Stores for Hazelwood Homes. Geneseo/Quad Cities

A 30″ wide Combination Wall Oven and Microwave is a great choice for those who want the option of an occasional second wall oven. The top microwave section of this unit can be used to bake smaller single-dish items. Built-in appliances give such a customized look and can really help your kitchen layout look and function at it’s best. Installing the microwave as a wall oven here allows our design to include the chimney hood above the cooktop. We even gave the refrigerator a built-in look.

In certain remodels and in most new construction homes we have the ability to communicate with the contractors that we would like to recess the refrigerator back a few inches. This allows our clients to select standard-depth refrigerators and get the look of a counter-depth in the end. Here we have done just that and paneled the right end for a fully surrounded look. On the left of the refrigerator is tall pantry cabinet…

… a pantry cabinet front that is! These doors open to a walk-in pantry entrance that is behind the pantry doors AND behind refrigerator area in this home. Kitchen storage goals for sure! Truly this open concept is “goals” for many of our readers. Imagine entertaining friends and family in this gorgeous new home. We must give a shout out to the true “MVP” surface for all of these spaces, the stunning Hickory hardwood flooring from our Paramount line! The same hickory is installed in the front foyer, hallway, kitchen, living room entrance, and hearth room.

This is a 3/4 x 5 solid hardwood from the Barnwood series. The “Covered Bridge” color has so much depth and helps to compliment all of the wood finishes in the space. We have a full floor of another finish from this series installed in our Geneseo showroom. It truly is a must see for the color and texture this series offers. These planks are Kerf-Sawn and hand-scraped. When the light hits it you see the beautiful hand-scrapes and chatter-marks.

A mix of metals and wood finishes even in the lighting selections! The dinette light repeats the seeded glass from the kitchen island pendants but also includes a wood sloped base to the chandelier. The “Grand Bank” series from our Kichler line is the perfect choice. Our lighting experts work closely with new home customers to build a light list and work within your budget to find the perfect fixtures for your needs and tastes. Another blend of woods can be found with the statement ceiling in the living room. Wooden beams accent the ceiling shape and a 70″ wide “Maverick” fan from our Monte Carlo line looks like an art piece. Dark Walnut blades on this fan pick up the darkest of the wood stains and grain in the overall space. We have a lot of fans installed in our showroom to help you decide the right size and style of fan for your own home.

Kerkhoff Homes- An Award-Winning Parade Home Kitchen

Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen with white painted cabinets, a gray stained island, KitchenAid appliances, and quartz tops. Kitchen design and materials by Village Home Stores for Kerkhoff Homes in the Quad Cities.

Congratulations to Kerkhoff Homes for winning one of the awards (2018 Best Home in the $639,000-$665,000 price range category) during the Quad Cities Builders & Remodelers Fall Parade of Homes! We were thrilled to have our design and products throughout TWO of the Kerkhoff homes this parade season so we wanted to feature one this week on the blog. The kitchen in this home is stunning. An open layout, a custom range hood, and so many great finish selections. Take a look! White perimeter and accent gray island kitchen design in Bettendorf, Iowa. Home staged by Elements Design. Great Room kitchen layouts should always be open and inviting. By selecting the right surfaces and materials, you also can make a space feel spacious and airy like this kitchen. The kitchen layout in this Bettendorf home is an L-shape perimeter with a large single level island. The cabinetry is the Prairie door in a painted “Ivory” finish from our Koch Classic line.Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen with white painted cabinets, a gray stained island, KitchenAid appliances, and quartz tops. The kitchen island has an overhang extending off the back for added counter-height seating. There is also a casual dining space adjacent to the kitchen. The star of this kitchen is most certainly the custom hood we created with this builder. A wood hood was built to match the cabinetry of the kitchen perimeter with a Broan blower insert housed within it. Faux metallic detail on a custom wood range hood. But we didn’t just build a custom wood hood… we took it one step further. A local artist added a faux metallic finish to the lower lip and top rail of the hood giving the illusion of an old metal hood. Even seeing the paint detail up close you will be fooled into thinking it is the real deal!Metallic faux finish detail in a kitchen by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Below the feature hood is a gas range ready to be put to any task! This front-control gas range has five burners on top and convection features in the oven. Flawless cooking results thanks to Even-Heat™ True Convection; the unique bow-tie design and convection fan in the back of the unit ensure the inside of the entire oven is heated to, and stays at, the perfect temperature. This range also features a Steam Rack that offers the ability to add additional moisture to the inside of the oven, enhancing cooking results.

The French Door refrigerator is the focal point of the other wall of the kitchen. 20 cubic foot of storage capacity and a counter-depth design make it functional in many ways. The ExtendFresh™ Temperature Management System and Produce Preserver help keep food fresh. LED lighting throughout the refrigerator makes food easy to find on every level.KitchenAid Stainless Steel appliances in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. | VillageHomeStores.com

“But there is no water and ice in the fridge” you say? Yes there is! The filtered water dispenser is hidden on the interior of the counterdepth model and an icemaker is in the lower freezer. The kitchen itself includes plenty of storage space within the kitchen cabinets, plus there is a walk-in pantry on the range wall. Cabinet storage and fresh food storage are the main tasks for this section of the kitchen L-shape. As well as a lengthy section of countertop surface for food prep, service, and loading and unloading the refrigerator. Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen with white painted cabinets, a gray stained island, KitchenAid appliances, and quartz tops. | villagehomestores.com

A Sharp microwave drawer is also found on this wall of the kitchen. Kitchen microwave drawers are past the “occasional” spotting and have entered into the “expected” category in our area. They are a great look AND functional solution to the microwave needs in busy kitchens.

Any busy kitchen will need a high-performance dishwasher and this KitchenAid one is ready to be put to work! This one is quiet at just 46 d.b.a (normal conversation levels are around 50), and the ProWash cycle is ready for even the toughest loads. Shop our entire catalog of appliances here on our website. The dishwasher is located on the end of the kitchen island next to the kitchen sink. KitchenAid Stainless Steel dishwasher in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. | villagehomestores.com

The kitchen island is also from our Koch Classic line of cabinetry in the same Prairie door. A Hickory wood has been stained with a warm gray stain named “Stone”. A sinkbase, pull out trash basket, and stack of drawers complete the island cabinet configuration.

Keeping with bright and light finishes, a glossy engineered quartz countertop was installed. Our Q-Quartz line in the color named “Calacatta Laza” is a classic and sophisticated choice. Bright whites blend with ivory and neutral beige veining. A glossy finish is reflective and beautiful. Once installed, quartz has little to no maintenance (yes you still have to wipe it clean). Quartz is also non-porous and foodsafe making it an ideal kitchen surface.

Above the kitchen island hang two glass pendant lights. A great way to give a space a more airy and light look is to use glass or mirror. These pendants from our Feiss Lighting line are named “Zola” and they anchor the island scale and shape but don’t weigh down the space with a dark finish. Instead, you can see through them to that great custom hood design! Shop our lighting catalogs here on our websiteGlass pendant lighting hangs above a kitchen island in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. Hazelwood Homes- Colona Home With Smart Material Choices

When you build a home, there seems to be a never-ending stream of decisions to be made. Village Home Stores is so blessed to work with so many of the region’s best builders. These builders allow us to partner with them and their clients to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible. We form you a team of experts based on the products you need for your home. That team works together with you to help guide you to make the best choices for your lifestyle and the budgets you have set. There are so many areas of your home where you can make smart material choices and help get you the overall look and performance you want. This home from Hazelwood Homes built in Colona, IL is a fantastic example of that!Colona Illinois New Home by Hazelwood Homes with design and materials from Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

There are many elements that your cabinet designer will discuss with you to help pair your wish list and needs with the right products. That is why we carry so many product lines at various prices. We offer a wide variety of options so we can meet any budget or construction expectation. We designed the kitchen using our Koch Express line of cabinetry. The perimeter of the kitchen is in the “Lexington” doorstyle and painted “Oyster” finish. The kitchen island is in the “Camden” door in a Rustic Birch wood stained a “Stone” finish. The look and function (soft close doors and drawers were applied) of a semi-custom kitchen from our Express builder-grade product. Both the soft, bright gray color of the Oyster and the stained Stone island are right on trend. Another trend is the use of two medium-sized light fixtures above an island instead of a line smaller pendants.

Our lighting experts will work with your cabinet designer to help you select the appropriate shape, size, and quantity of light needed for your space. Since we are focusing on smart material choices in this post, we want to point out that these are actually foyer lights. Many times, smart choices come from the ability to think outside the box. The lighting trend of 2-3 larger light fixtures above kitchen islands has often brought our lighting team to suggest foyer, dining, and even some outdoor lighting product for our clients. We carry thousands of lighting options and our experts will work with you to help narrow down your personal style and needs. Koch Express cabinets in painted Oyster finish. We love the clean look of the bright Oyster painted finish and the addition of 5-piece drawer fronts give a very classic look to the cabinetry. A 5-piece drawer front means that in place of a smooth, slab drawer with an outside edge you get the look of a small door. A framed edge with center panel. And nothing can be a more classic countertop choice than a white marble… but this isn’t marble. It isn’t stone at all! They are Formica laminate! Formica’s “Calacatta Marble” design in the large-format print 180FX series gives a successful look of real marble at a fraction of the cost.

We installed it here using what is called an “ideal” edge profile. That helps create even more of a look of a smooth edge to a slab of stone on the lengths of the top and even the corners. The durable Elkay drop-in sink used is another smart material selection. Think of how much use your kitchen sink gets. You need it to look great but also perform well. These granite composite options are available in so many colors now we can find just the right one to compliment your kitchen design.Marble look Formica laminate top in Calacatta Marble color with drop in kitchen sink. A single hole fixture is easier to clean and helps to keep the island looking less cluttered. This model has a single lever control and a pull down sprayer. Laminate tops can be one of the smartest material decisions made when building a home. You can always return years later and replace your counters with an upgrade of material. That is a simpler project than changing out your cabinetry or flooring. Formica laminate top in Calacatta Marble color with full wrap edge. We did a lot of remodel work in the home including bathroom remodels (more on that later) and new flooring in many rooms. This kitchen has come long way from the original in this Princeton, IL home. It now has an upgraded layout and materials. Take a look at this before photo:

Cabinetry upgrades that include storage solutions can be the very best way to treat yourself when you are remodeling a kitchen. In a remodel situation you know your space is limited and you have had a chance to use and experience the needs for what you hope to have in a new kitchen. Smart storage is the very best storage any kitchen can offer. Take a look at this convenient knife block cabinet we included by the prep and cooking zone. Koch cabinetry in a remodeled Princeton, IL kitchen with pullout knife block. | VillageHomeStores.com

Our designers will work closely with you to help establish a wishlist of items and find cabinet solutions that may be the perfect investment for your everyday use. Other great pullout storage cabinets are spice cabinets near the cooking zone. This cabinet shown is plenty wide so that spices and cooking oils and sprays can also fit within.  Pullout spice rack cabinet in a Princeton, IL kitchen. Across the kitchen is a tall pantry cabinet with a center shelf section for a microwave. To the left is a section of counter space above the dishwasher. This kitchen design includes a peninsula instead of an island. This allows a section of base cabinets and tops to extend out from the wall. The original kitchen had a bar-height section raised up and this new updated layout keeps the space open with just one single level. Birch Briarwood cabinetry in a remodeled Princeton, IL kitchen. | VillageHomeStores.com

At the inside corner of this peninsula is the new kitchen sink. New Engineered Quartz counters in the “Chakra Beige” color look great with an undermounted kitchen sink. Now this new peninsula is one large surface with an overhang for seating.

Another section of cabinet storage and countertop surface has been included near the kitchen table. This location makes a perfect morning station with space for the coffeepot and toaster. Birch wood is a wonderful choice for any traditional style kitchen space. The grain is very clean and smooth and many stains take to it in a way that compliments existing furniture and wood trim. The added accent glaze on the cabinet doors in this kitchen looks great with all of the oil rubbed bronze hardware and lighting.
