Moline, IL- Kitchen Remodel Fully Managed From Start to Finish

This Moline, IL kitchen is a tale that we are sure many can relate to. The original kitchen cabinets were in a very functional layout but beginning to show the wear and tear of years of use. After years and years of “maybe someday I’ll replace them”… this Spring “someday” had finally come. beforeNow the kitchen is updated with new cabinetry plus we removed an entire wall to make room for an island in the new design. The original kitchen shared the same L-shaped layout but the opposite end had a corner of walls with just enough room for a small table and two chairs. Kitchen remodel in Moline, IL managed from start to finish. | VillageHomeStores.com

Now with one of those back walls removed, the kitchen is open and bright. Birch wood Cabinetry from our Koch classic line has been installed in the “Westbrook” door style. A “Chestnut” stain has been applied and a “Black” accent glaze highlights the door and trim details. Engineered Quartz countertops in the “Chakra Beige” design is a neutral tone-on-tone look.

This crown is the perfect style and scale for the project. It even includes an area for the accent glaze to catch. With plenty of cabinet space within reach on each wall, an area above the cabinets is left to display items.

A white Whirlpool® range and microwave hood are also part of the new kitchen. Microwave hoods can save counterspace and be installed to vent out of the home or re-circulate the air. The original kitchen had just a range hood installed, now the microwave is off the counter.

The new electric range includes an easy-wipe ceramic glass cooktop. The most dramatic difference in the new kitchen came when we removed a wall that divided the kitchen from the dining room. Removing this one wall has helps this kitchen seem to grow in space even though it hasn’t extended any further into the dining room than before. The small table and chairs is now replaced with a large single-level kitchen island with seating for two comfortably.

With open shelves installed on each end of the island, the largest base cabinet included faces in toward the kitchen sink. Behind the double doors of this cabinet are two slide-out shelves. The “ends” to each open shelf cabinets have been treated with “applied doors” on each side. This gives the illusion of doors and helps complete the look instead of just a smooth panel. The back of the island includes three applied doors and two wood decorative supports for the overhang.

The island is really the focal point of this new kitchen and the accent glaze highlights all of the details perfectly. While the island steal the show in the kitchen, the new hardwood Walnut flooring is now showcased through the entire upper level of this home. The Walnut hardwood in the “Saddle” finish is from our Hallmark Hardwood line. Read more about Hallmark and some of our other projects here at this link.

Flooring and remodel work in Moline, IL | VillageHomeStores.comThe hardwood flooring was not the only new flooring installed at this remodeled home. The split-foyer layout was given a whole new look right at the stairway leading up into the new hardwood open-concept. A new stair rail and banister were installed and carpeting from our Dixie Home line was put in on both sets of stairs. This carpet is from the “Rock Creek” series in the “Ginger color. It is a 100% Stainmaster® carpet that resists stains, abrasive wear over time, and even has anti-static protection. That means you reduce your chances of static shock. This homeowner knew that she wanted to be sure to include our LED undercabinet lighting in her new kitchen. She had seen this system in our previous projects and on our TV show so it was at the top of her wish list for the new kitchen. That lighting was a great investment to help showcase her new subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. 3″ x 6″ glass tiles from our Jeffrey Court line in the “Buff” color are the perfect choice and pair perfectly with the countertops selected. Moline- Mythbusting Remodel Project

Not every remodel project we take on involves a full dumpster of old cabinets and drywall. Many of the kitchen transformations that happen week to week from our store involve just a few steps or stages and none of them include removing a wall of tearing out soffits. Not every project or budget allows for such an involved process. Truth be told, not every customer wants to go through the “full” remodel process. This remodeled kitchen in Moline is a perfect example.

Moline_kitchen_remodelThe layout of the existing kitchen worked well for this family but they were in need of an updated look without a huge mess. Many of our blog readers can relate to an existing Oak kitchen that just looks tired and ready for a change. Let us walk you through what we did to help this Moline couple get the finished look you see above. First a brand new kitchen island was installed from our Dura Supreme line.

new_island_frontThe cabinets are built from a Knotty Alder wood and finished in a “Peppercorn” stain. Many times customers shopping for an island think there are set standard sizes and styles of island cabinets. That is not the case. We can design a kitchen island to be perfect for your exact space and needs.

new_island_backThis island consists of just three base cabinets, paneling, and trim. Your designer from Village Home Stores can help you decide what cabinets would be perfect for your island. In this case, two wide stacks of drawers on the interior were included for a lot of added storage. Outlets were also included on each end of the island to make prep and entertaining easier.

TorquayNew countertops are the second element that went into this kitchen remodel. Cambria Quartz now covers the entire perimeter of the kitchen as well as the new island all in the “Torquay” design. A standard “Eased” edge profile was used. Anytime you are investing in replacement countertops it is an ideal time to replace your kitchen sink and faucet as well. How beautiful is this new sink?

truffleWe have installed a number of this new finish of sink by Blanco called “Truffle”.  The color is a perfect neutral taupe and pairs well with Stainless, Pewter, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze faucet finishes. The layout of this undermount sink is a 60/40 divided space.

iPad_in_kitchenThere is no Cambria backsplash installed so that the full 18″ from counter to cabinet can be filled with a beautiful new backsplash. A warm and bright “Calacatta Gold” 1″ x 2″ backsplash tile surrounds the kitchen. and even extends up around the window trim and end wall.

diodeThis remodeled Moline kitchen is another classic example of how our Diode under-cabinet lighting system can make a gigantic impact on your new space. These photographs were taken during the day but you can still see just how much of a showcase it puts the new backsplash on. Just take a look at our last feature kitchen to see another example of this incredible lighting system.

new_susanWhile this may look like a brand new kitchen the original Oak perimeter cabinetry was painted to give it a fresh new look. We also installed a brand new lazy susan in the existing corner cabinet of the kitchen. By painting the cabinets, replacing the counters, and installed a new island and backsplash this kitchen looks completely new!
