Quad Cities Kitchen With Black and White Cabinets

Welcome to this stunning new home in Bettendorf Iowa, Quad Cities with kitchen and bath designs by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes. Every corner of this new home is an example of a chic and sophisticated take on the clean, Scandinavian-inspired finish trends of combining white, matte black, and light woods. Join us on a short photo tour of the kitchen and bathroom spaces in this incredible new home beginning in the kitchen. Koch Cabinetry in the Savannah doorstyle is painted with a “Black” finish on the kitchen island and “White” for the perimeter. Whirlpool appliances and quartz counters are also featured. Let’s have a look around.

Matte black cabinets are continuing to “climb the charts” so to speak in our industry. We have installed full kitchens, kitchenettes, and countless bath vanities, home bars, and kitchen islands in this neutral finish. Here it is used in a traditional two-tone application as an accent color on the island. Another great look is to install black base cabinets and white uppers. See an example of that here in a past feature. Bright, white glossy Hanstone quartz counters in the “Strato” design are installed on the perimeter and kitchen island. And of course any dream kitchen isn’t complete without a great pantry. Check out that hidden walk-in pantry on the fridge wall!

It’s OK to admit your jealous because we are too! We can order one of these tall cabinet fronts to match your kitchen from Village Home Stores. Even just a small niche of space can be transformed into creative storage solutions inside. With the recent year we have all had, many can agree that we are shopping more and more in bulk. So a pantry like this is a wonderful asset to any busy household. Ask your kitchen designer at Village Home Stores how we can create a design for your new or existing home to include this feature.

Tall hidden pantry entrance and microwave drawer

The hardware for this kitchen is from our Jeffrey Alexander line in a matte black finish. Notice how on the closed pantry doors (above) a larger scale handle is installed. This is a functional and stylish design choice. While these tall doors are sturdy, they would open very flimsy if a small knob were installed to operate them. Matte black metal was also repeated in the two large pendant fixtures that hang above the kitchen island. These stone seeded glass pendants are 12″ wide and 21 1/2″ high in size from our Capital Lighting line. We have this pendant light on display in our showroom currently if you would like to see it in person. The glass texture is a detail that photos just can’t showcase as well as in person.

Another metal finish is introduced with the appliance suite in this kitchen. Whirlpool’s Stainless Steel is a fantastic fit for this complete vision. A front-control freestanding gas range with chimney-style hood above is the focal point of the back wall of the design. On the other wall you will find a french door refrigerator and Sharp microwave drawer. There is something so classic about a white wall of cabinetry with white on white subway tile and a great cooking pair like this.

This Whirlpool range boasts a massive 5.8 cu.ft. of capacity inside the oven and a 5-burner gas cooktop above including an oval central burner. It also includes a customer-favorite: Frozen Bake™ Technology. This takes the True Convection Cooking components in the oven and puts them to work to allow you to place fully frozen items into a cold oven and get amazing results without a preheat. This cooktop is also a dream to clean. The full-width cast iron grates have EZ-2-Lift™ hinges at the back. Just hinge them open, wipe the surface clean and hinge down!

In the kitchen island there is an apron front farm sink flanked by a pullout waste basket cabinet of the left, and a Stainless dishwasher on the right. This Whirlpool dishwasher has a 1 hour wash option and a Sensor cycle that picks the right cycle just for you. Finished items come out “cabinet-dry” dishes thanks to Fan Dry that uses a fan to pull in fresh, dry air. No more drying clean dishes before putting them away!

Of course a large part of a successfully competed great room design is a lighting plan that is well thought out for function and style. We love the linear caged light that hangs above the dining table just off the kitchen. This is the Quorum Olympus 8-light chandelier and it is shown here in the “Noir” finish. Also, can we get an amen for a dining table with a bench seat!? We love this look and Aspen Homes always does such a great job of staging their spec homes!

The bathrooms in this home are just as dreamy and lux as the kitchen! Check out this double vanity principal bathroom below. Plenty of drawer space for storage and counter between sinks. Outlets are installed on the interior of the two linen cabinets for grooming appliances. Bright white Koch cabinets are made even brighter with polished chrome metal details in this bathroom.

A lighting trend we love is installing your bath lighting directly through a custom wall mirror. This always elevates the look of any fixture but showing it off almost in a 360 view. Check out the image below to see this trend in action. Three “Manhattan” wall sconces from our Capital line are installed in this bathroom. One at the center between the sinks and the other two spaced near the linen cabinets.

Using the mate black trend in a bathroom can also be done while keeping a space feeling open and bright. Mate black accents can help to make graphic statements in your overall design. We love this bathroom in the home that includes two black framed mirrors with lighting, plumbing, and cabinet hardware all in a matte black. Just like the kitchen island lights, these “Colton” Capital fixtures combine a black metal finish with a textured glass.

The same Savannah door from the kitchen is used in this bathroom but a subtle gray paint named “Dusk” is applied. The hardware and lighting accents aren’t the only thing with a softer, matter finish applied. We also can order our cultured vanity tops in a matte finish. The Onyx Collection is a line that offers tops and shower systems. They have tons of modern bowl shapes, and so many colors to choose from. This is not the shell-bowl pink marbled top from your great grandma’s house folks…. but believe it or not its the same product and concept. Matte white is always a classic look. Your designer at Village may ask if you are in need of any end splashes for your top. Below is an example of a (right) end splash. On tops with sinks near a wall or cabinet, these protect that surface from water splashing up.

Annawan, IL- Schoolhouse Bathroom Remodel

This old schoolhouse in Annawan, IL is full of great character. Tall ceilings with exposed tin panels, and a unique layout. Rustic Beech wood Koch cabinetry in the Briarwood stain and a Black Accent Glaze was the perfect choice to help showcase the other rustic material selections for this remodeled bathroom space. The main wall includes a vanity cabinet with an offset sink and stack of drawers. We ordered a matching mirror molding to wrap a custom-sized mirror perfect for the room. The new tiled shower is accessed right behind the vanity wall.Bathroom remodel in Annawan, IL with rustic details. Design by Chris Robinson with materials and remodel project management by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

When remodeling, nobody wants to see wall surface go unused. Bathrooms can become a tricky area to add any storage space once all of the areas are designated to a fixture location (stool, sink, doorway, window, shower, etc). Village Home Stores also can order and install interior doors to match your remodel space. This bathroom has two walls that have each been fit with a new door. One is accessed from the nearby bedroom, the other is from the hallway. With two doorways and a window, available wall space was limited. But we found some room for storage. The window wall is now home to the stool and a lot of great storage. Bathroom remodel in Annawan, IL with rustic details. Design by Chris Robinson with materials and remodel project management by Village Home Stores. | VillageHomeStores.com

A tall linen cabinet fits in the corner of the new space. A linen cabinet can be helpful at any depth. Standard depths are 12″, 18″, 21″, and 24″ deep but we are able to order a custom depth cabinet to perfectly fit any space and utilize as much of that area as possible. Even just a 12″ deep linen cabinet can offer so much shelf space for toiletries and linens.

A cabinet commonly used in a bathroom is a “toilet topper” cabinet. With bathrooms trending away from medicine cabinets and instead using more framed mirrors, these can be a great solution for small item storage. Deep enough for rolls of toilet paper, and typically including a towel bar or open shelf below, these cabinets are a great addition to any space. Even with all of the extra storage cabinets, there is storage available within reach of the bath vanity area itself.

A single sinkbase cabinet and a stack of drawers are arranged with an offset vanity bowl. Our Onyx Collection vanity tops are a great option for a bathroom. This top is in the “Prospect” color. Seamless, integrated bowls (shown here with a two-tone “Icicle” bowl for the illusion of an undermount sink) and the ability to fit any custom layout or space. Ask a designer at Village Home Stores about the many color and bowl styles available in this product.

The exposed tin ceilings and textured wallpaper in this old schoolhouse are such interesting design details to let be showcased above the “new” walls of the bathroom. Those rustic characteristics become a great compliment to the tile materials selected for this bathroom. Faux brick tiles from our Chicago Brick line in the “State Street” color are installed as the main bathroom floor. This custom tiled shower is accessed as a door-less, walk-in shower around the corner behind the vanity wall.  The shower floor is a Pebble mosaic named “Born Wilderness”.

“Look-alike” tile is a great trend that helps add great textures to a space in a more practical tile surface for the homeowner. We have seen this brick-look tile used in so many unique spaces since we began carrying it. It works well as a floor and wall tile. If you would like to see it, we have a large area of our new lighting showroom with it installed as a floor tile. The wall of the shower is another look-alike tile.

The look of a rustic barnwood but in a long, plank wall tile. The “Charleston” 3″ x 36″ tiles add such a blend of textures and natural colors. We included plenty of grab bars in the new shower space.  A custom tiled niche was added on the interior wall with the same pebble tile used as an accent in the back.

Check out this ideabook on Houzz full of our own custom tiled shower ideas and inspiration.  Are you ready to start the conversation about your own bath remodel with Village? Applestone Homes- An Urban Farmstead in the Iowa QC

The Modern Farmhouse style has taken the ENTIRE country by storm. Of course the Midwest Region has embraced this style because… well we were all already on board! We are so lucky to partner with a local builder that masters this look in a refined and stylish way. Take a look at the kitchen in an urban farmstead recently built by Applestone Homes in the heart of the Iowa Quad Cities.

The Modern Farmhouse style is about large, airy, and spacious spaces full of character and texture. Kitchen designs including islands and casual dining spaces built for gathering. Finding new ways to style a space with antiques and unique pieces. Nothing new to our Quad Cities market! The perimeter of this kitchen design includes cabinetry from our Koch Classic line in the “Prairie” door and painted “Pearl” finish.

If large spaces for gathering to prepare, eat, and enjoy means Modern Farmhouse… this island is expert-level farmhouse! Just look at that huge, open counter perfect for so many functions. Large drawer stacks face the cooking zone of the kitchen for pots, pans, and serving dishes. The island and pantry cabinets are in the “Hastings” door and a Rustic Beech wood stained the “Stone” finish.

One huge advantage to embracing the Modern Farmhouse style in the Quad Cities vs. anywhere else… the views out of the window. An apron-front sink that looks out to watch the Midwest seasons change is one of the best gifts you can give any new home owner.

We love the back panel design selected for the kitchen island. The “X” style is a nod to barn doors and also helps to break up the smooth paneled surface. We didn’t just provide the kitchen cabinetry design for this home. We also provided a bar area and bath cabinetry.

This Master Bathroom is so gorgeous. The same “Stone” stain in a Rustic Beech wood has been applied to the “Vicksburg” doorstyle. We love the break in the heights and depths of the cabinetry. It creates interest and helps to divide the two sink areas.Vanity tops with integrated sinks make for easy cleanup. A two-toned color selection from The Onyx Collection gives the illusion of an under-mounted vanity bowl.

In the Powder Room is a furniture-style vanity. Some hidden storage beneath the sink and an open shelf below. This entire home is Modern Farmhouse perfection! We are always so happen when our products can be installed expertly and then styled tastefully. Applestone Homes masters both of these key elements in creating a comfortable but impressive new home for their clients.

Coal Valley, IL- A Master Bathroom Takes “Shape”

In our last feature post we shared a tour of a stylish and sophisticated kitchen remodel. That same home in Coal Valley, IL also includes a remodeled Master Suite area just as stunning! A sliding barn door in the Master Bath opens to reveal a walk-in closet, makeup vanity room, and a beautiful bathroom space.

Just like the kitchen, this bathroom began in a beige setting with a medium Oak vanity. A wall-to-wall installation of vanity and top included a cultured marble vanity top with two integrated bowls.
before-remodel

The new vanity area now includes an inset White painted vanity from our Dura Supreme line. The “Highland” doorstyle is inset into the vanity face frame for a classic and stylish look. White wall paneling has been installed throughout the new bathroom and is divided up to create shapely pattern.

From the inset door edges, to the unique wall sconces, everything makes a statement. We love that the accents of gold from the other areas of the home have made it into this Master Suite.

The wall sconces are mounted directly through the wall-to-wall mirror. This helps keep the bathroom space seem more open and airy by having the maximum amount of mirror available to bounce and reflect light around.

The Honey Gold finish and white fabric shade are right in place with the rest of the materials selected. The squared off corners of the gold frame reflect and create an almost greek key design.

Beneath the mirror and sconces sits a gorgeous new vanity top. Instead of a double bowl vanity, a single offset layout has been installed. This allows for more countertop space and allows the pattern of Cambria® Quartz “Brittanicca” to take center stage. A clean and stylish blend of whites and grays, this quartz has a natural marble look with the maintenance-free perks Cambria® offers. The vanity top has a “Large Ogee Edge” applied.

With a vanity area that stunning how could a shower still grab your attention? Well… we removed the shower curtain to take a few photos so you can get the full wow-factor!

We were correct about that wow-factor weren’t we? Using a dark gray grout here helps to enhance the geometric pattern of the tile installation. This tile by Florida Tile is appropriately named “Hex” is a glossy white hexagon pattern.

Proof that you do not  need a mosaic of colors to make a bold statement with tile, this shower is amazing! A mix of two shapes of the same colored tile installed in a modern look. We love the stacked install on these long, horizontal tiles.

One the wall opposite the shower head is a custom tiled niche area. Inside of that niche the same “Hex” tile has been used and glass shelves allow light to pass through. Including a custom shelf or niche is always helpful when planning a tiled shower.

Many times custom tiled showers include a tiled base for the floor. This customer wanted to avoid grout lines to be cleans on the floor and instead chose a stylish shower base custom made for her by the Onyx Collection. This base is poured in Kansas and available in many colors and can be customized to even the strangest of shapes. A textured pattern is included in the base for added traction. The color selected for this bathroom is named “Constellation” and it is a great compliment to the dark gray grout.

Aspen Homes- Baths, Laundry and Lighting Complete The Home

Village Home Stores isn’t just beautiful kitchen designs. We also have products and services for the rest of the rooms throughout your home. Today let’s take a tour of some of the other areas of this Apsen Homes LLC parade home beginning in the Master Bathroom.
Master Bathroom cabinetry in a Bettendorf, IA home. Design and materials by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes LLC. | VillageHomeStores.com

Far atop the wishlists of most of our clients… storage! This is the case in a kitchen and especially in a bathroom. With medicine cabinets becoming a thing of the past, framed mirrors offer style but no storage. The vanity area in a bathroom is where a designer must get creative to add as much storage as possible without overcrowding the area.
Master Bathroom cabinetry in a Bettendorf, IA home. Design and materials by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes LLC. | VillageHomeStores.com

Dividing the space between the two vanity sinks is a tall wall cabinet with a single drawer. These 12″ deep cabinets can accommodate a LOT of items within. Plenty of counter space is still surrounding the area and now storage is right within reach without even bending down to reach it!

The vanity includes two sink base cabinets and a large stack of drawers at the center. Cabinetry in the Master Bath is from our Koch Classic line in the “Legacy” door and Cherry wood stained the same “Stone” stain as the kitchen.  A Black accent glaze has been applied to highlight the details of the doors and drawerfronts.  The double-bowl vanity top is an Engineered Quartz.

Klondike’s “Calcutta Gold” quartz spreads the full width of the vanity with a backsplash and end splashes applied. Rectangle vanity sinks have been undermounted to the quartz and 8″ cc faucets in a bright polished chrome complete the look.  Two of the other bathrooms include a cultured marble vanity top. Cultured marble is a term for a molded top that includes an integrated vanity sink when it is made.

These tops are made in the U.S.A. from our Onyx Collection line. Standard sizes or custom, Onyx can make a top for your project. The look of cultured marble has changed dramatically over the years. What used to be a glossy, marbled look is now sleek and modern. Faux granites have replaced marbles and solid, matte finish tops like these are a classic choice.
