Quad Cities Kitchen With Black and White Cabinets

Welcome to this stunning new home in Bettendorf Iowa, Quad Cities with kitchen and bath designs by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes. Every corner of this new home is an example of a chic and sophisticated take on the clean, Scandinavian-inspired finish trends of combining white, matte black, and light woods. Join us on a short photo tour of the kitchen and bathroom spaces in this incredible new home beginning in the kitchen. Koch Cabinetry in the Savannah doorstyle is painted with a “Black” finish on the kitchen island and “White” for the perimeter. Whirlpool appliances and quartz counters are also featured. Let’s have a look around.

Matte black cabinets are continuing to “climb the charts” so to speak in our industry. We have installed full kitchens, kitchenettes, and countless bath vanities, home bars, and kitchen islands in this neutral finish. Here it is used in a traditional two-tone application as an accent color on the island. Another great look is to install black base cabinets and white uppers. See an example of that here in a past feature. Bright, white glossy Hanstone quartz counters in the “Strato” design are installed on the perimeter and kitchen island. And of course any dream kitchen isn’t complete without a great pantry. Check out that hidden walk-in pantry on the fridge wall!

It’s OK to admit your jealous because we are too! We can order one of these tall cabinet fronts to match your kitchen from Village Home Stores. Even just a small niche of space can be transformed into creative storage solutions inside. With the recent year we have all had, many can agree that we are shopping more and more in bulk. So a pantry like this is a wonderful asset to any busy household. Ask your kitchen designer at Village Home Stores how we can create a design for your new or existing home to include this feature.

The hardware for this kitchen is from our Jeffrey Alexander line in a matte black finish. Notice how on the closed pantry doors (above) a larger scale handle is installed. This is a functional and stylish design choice. While these tall doors are sturdy, they would open very flimsy if a small knob were installed to operate them. Matte black metal was also repeated in the two large pendant fixtures that hang above the kitchen island. These stone seeded glass pendants are 12″ wide and 21 1/2″ high in size from our Capital Lighting line. We have this pendant light on display in our showroom currently if you would like to see it in person. The glass texture is a detail that photos just can’t showcase as well as in person.

Another metal finish is introduced with the appliance suite in this kitchen. Whirlpool’s Stainless Steel is a fantastic fit for this complete vision. A front-control freestanding gas range with chimney-style hood above is the focal point of the back wall of the design. On the other wall you will find a french door refrigerator and Sharp microwave drawer. There is something so classic about a white wall of cabinetry with white on white subway tile and a great cooking pair like this.

This Whirlpool range boasts a massive 5.8 cu.ft. of capacity inside the oven and a 5-burner gas cooktop above including an oval central burner. It also includes a customer-favorite: Frozen Bake™ Technology. This takes the True Convection Cooking components in the oven and puts them to work to allow you to place fully frozen items into a cold oven and get amazing results without a preheat. This cooktop is also a dream to clean. The full-width cast iron grates have EZ-2-Lift™ hinges at the back. Just hinge them open, wipe the surface clean and hinge down!

In the kitchen island there is an apron front farm sink flanked by a pullout waste basket cabinet of the left, and a Stainless dishwasher on the right. This Whirlpool dishwasher has a 1 hour wash option and a Sensor cycle that picks the right cycle just for you. Finished items come out “cabinet-dry” dishes thanks to Fan Dry that uses a fan to pull in fresh, dry air. No more drying clean dishes before putting them away!

Of course a large part of a successfully competed great room design is a lighting plan that is well thought out for function and style. We love the linear caged light that hangs above the dining table just off the kitchen. This is the Quorum Olympus 8-light chandelier and it is shown here in the “Noir” finish. Also, can we get an amen for a dining table with a bench seat!? We love this look and Aspen Homes always does such a great job of staging their spec homes!

The bathrooms in this home are just as dreamy and lux as the kitchen! Check out this double vanity principal bathroom below. Plenty of drawer space for storage and counter between sinks. Outlets are installed on the interior of the two linen cabinets for grooming appliances. Bright white Koch cabinets are made even brighter with polished chrome metal details in this bathroom.

A lighting trend we love is installing your bath lighting directly through a custom wall mirror. This always elevates the look of any fixture but showing it off almost in a 360 view. Check out the image below to see this trend in action. Three “Manhattan” wall sconces from our Capital line are installed in this bathroom. One at the center between the sinks and the other two spaced near the linen cabinets.

Using the mate black trend in a bathroom can also be done while keeping a space feeling open and bright. Mate black accents can help to make graphic statements in your overall design. We love this bathroom in the home that includes two black framed mirrors with lighting, plumbing, and cabinet hardware all in a matte black. Just like the kitchen island lights, these “Colton” Capital fixtures combine a black metal finish with a textured glass.

The same Savannah door from the kitchen is used in this bathroom but a subtle gray paint named “Dusk” is applied. The hardware and lighting accents aren’t the only thing with a softer, matter finish applied. We also can order our cultured vanity tops in a matte finish. The Onyx Collection is a line that offers tops and shower systems. They have tons of modern bowl shapes, and so many colors to choose from. This is not the shell-bowl pink marbled top from your great grandma’s house folks…. but believe it or not its the same product and concept. Matte white is always a classic look. Your designer at Village may ask if you are in need of any end splashes for your top. Below is an example of a (right) end splash. On tops with sinks near a wall or cabinet, these protect that surface from water splashing up.

New Home With Gray and Black Painted Kitchen and Farmhouse Inspiration in Every Room

This Spring we have just felt so overwhelmed with appreciation for our customers and our builder relationships. Your support of Village Home Stores has kept our hearts so darn full while our showroom has had to be more empty. There are still so many new homes going up throughout the Quad Cities region. It is such an honor to work with so many area builders to put our design and products into their work. Our new home customers find that an appointment and the short drive to our one-stop-shop saves them time and money. Much of the process can even be done online through our login system. Together we can build a team of experts from each department for new home clients to help to create fully realized finished spaces. A great example is this Kerkhoff Homes property that just finished up in Bettendorf Iowa. Check out this dream kitchen!

We wanted to take some time to show you around the many highlights from this project beginning with a tour of the open-concept great room kitchen. The element that is first to grab your attention in the kitchen is the tiled backsplash area on the range wall. The main backsplash tile throughout the kitchen and dry bar area is a 1″x4″ Tundra Gray by Epic Stone. It is accented with a shimmering wide stripe of metal mosaic that cascades from ceiling to cooktop. This Falling Stars Aluminum Mix series in the Platinum Moon color is from our Glazzio Tile line. It blends mixed metallic finishes in grays and silvers.

This tile looks so perfectly at home surrounded by the “Fog” painted Koch cabinetry and Stainless Steel appliance package. A pot filler faucet in matte black has also been installed on the accent tile. This adds function and style to the cooking zone. The star of the kitchen appliances in this new home is the 48″ wide KitchenAid commercial style range. For serious home chefs, curious future home chefs, or households who entertain large groups, this range is a dream! 4′ wide with two oven cavities, this is a dual fuel model range. That means that you get the accuracy and constancy of an electric bake or broil in the ovens and the immediate control of a gas cooktop. Shop dual fuel ranges here at villagehomestores.com

Atop that double oven is 4′ of exceptional cooktop surface. A combined 6 gas burners and an integrated griddle. A continuous grate system over the burners allow a user to move pans of all sizes from one location to another. It also makes a great wide surface for cooling items from the oven. This is illustrated below by “Lord Stanley” who is monitoring the status of some cookies cooling.

The cabinetry in this Bettendorf kitchen is from our Koch Classic line in the best-selling Savannah doorstyle. This flat-panel door is the perfect Transitional selection that can work for many tastes. It can be ordered in painted and stained finishes. Shown here with the painted light gray “Fog” finish on the perimeter and “Black” paint on the kitchen island. The Fog paint is a wonderful neutral finish option for spaces that have a lot of whites and want a subtle compliment.

Our most requested feature for new home kitchen designs is a hidden pantry (also modeled here by Lord Stanley who just wanted to make sure we weren’t after his treats). We are able to order a matching tall cabinet front with no bottom rail from our cabinet companies. This allows you to create an entrance that looks like a normal pantry, but opens to reveal a hidden walk-in space. Want to see more examples of hidden pantries? Check out this storage solutions board on our Pinterest page!

Fresh and frozen food storage is found on the other wall of the kitchen design. We surrounded a counter-depth French Door refrigerator with a deep upper cabinet and tall end panels. This gives a built in and clean finished look. Concerned about losing storage space with a counter depth model? You no longer have to be! This counter-depth KitchenAid model is the largest capacity counter-depth refrigerator in its class! It has a slide-away split shelf, self-close crispers, and a custom temperature pantry drawer.

In this great room we provided three medium-sized pendants for above the kitchen island, a dinette light, and ceiling fans. Working with a lighting expert allows you to create a lighting plan using multiple brands and styles that compliment each other. This is so much better for a finished result than just buying a whole series of the same lighting in varied sizes. We love the jar shape of the Uttermost “Lansing” island pendants and the complimenting finishes in a difference shape and style for the dinette area just beyond the kitchen.

Below the pendant lights and right at the center of all kitchen activity is the kitchen sink. A farmhouse style apron sink has become another staple feature for many styles of homes. Here we have created the perfect prep and cleanup space by including a pull out waste basket to the right of the sink, and a KitchenAid dishwasher to the left. Quiet at just 39 decibels (normal conversation is about 50), you can run this dishwasher any time of day or night without disrupting music or television use in the great room.

The countertop surfaces in this kitchen are a marble-look engineered quartz surface called “Calacatta Laza”. This color is a fantastic marble fake-out in a durable and foodsafe surface. We are learning now more that ever that it is important to help reduce the spread of germs and bacteria within your home. Quartz countertop surfaces are non-porous so they will not absorb stains, cleaners, or any other “ickies” that may be on these cute paws below. Quartz surfaces can be cleaned with any non-abrasive cleaners and many times our customers just use mild soap and water.

Let’s head to the bar to celebrate and toast this new home! The same quartz surface and “Fog” painted cabinetry was installed as an extension to the kitchen in a dry bar area. Here we included a finished cabinet interior and glass doors for the upper cabinets and a built-in space below for beverage coolers. The result is a large built in bar area that keeps a light, airy, and inviting feel for use.

The two under counter appliances built in are stylish and super functional. With a counter-depth refrigerator as the main kitchen fridge, these glass-front models allow for added beverage storage outside of needing to use the main fridge. On the left is a wine cellar unit with two temperature zones within. On the right is a glass-front undercounter refrigerator. Glass-front bar fridges are fantastic for households who entertain because you have a clear way-finding clue day and night for guests to serve themselves without feeling sneaky trying to find the drinks.

And while “Lord Stanley” is the guardian of the pantry in this house, it looks like “Cy” here is the bouncer for this bar! This entire new home is stunning and fit with many high end products. We wanted to take a moment to point out the flooring in these spaces. Would you believe this ISN’T real hardwood? In photos and even in person it will fool you! This is actually a floating luxury vinyl plank floor. We wanted to point out that many of our new home customers are selecting luxury vinyl planks and tiles and the look and performance is still high end!

This same “Siberian White Honed Ledger” is installed horizontally as a fireplace surround and then vertically in the powder room. A pair of a smaller version of the kitchen island pendants are hung in the powder room. The light cast onto this tile looks so amazing! Texture and dimension in a neutral and classic material. Bettendorf, IA: Rustic Beech Lower Level Wet Bar

Home is not just where your hang your own hat. Your home is a place for entertaining guests. Don’t miss out on opportunities to make an impression on those guests in the areas you know they will visit. When you entertain large groups, two areas are always guaranteed a visit: the bar and the guest bathrooms. We wanted to show you around a wet bar located in the lower level of a Bettendorf, IA home built by Kerkhoff Homes. This wet bar is a great example of how just a few basic design details can step up a space to become functional AND memorable.wet bar cabinets in a lower level of a Bettendorf, IA home. | VillageHomeStores.com

Sometimes the last spaces designed in your home can become the most visited once they are complete. Building a new home or taking on an extensive remodel can leave you exhausted when it comes to making decisions. By the time you are finished making selections for the kitchen and main bathrooms you can easily run out of opinions. Your expert team at Village Home Stores is here to make sure every space in your project has that designer touch.  A great wet bar design doesn’t have to break your budget or strain your decision-making patience. Give your space just a few distinct features and then sit back and enjoy it! rustic_beech_bar

The easiest way to complete the look of any wet bar is to include matching wood paneling. This gives the bar a more solid look. Imagine if the wall underneath the wooden bar top was just painted the same color as the walls. This same bar would look half the size. Including wood panels in this design helps to anchor the outside of the built-in bar space and makes a firms statement that there is not just a back bar but as front bar as well. This paneled look was acheived with a smooth panel, finished flat stock pieces, and furniture base molding.bar back panel and trim. | VillageHomeStores.com

recessed refrigerator in barThe wet bar includes a refrigerator recessed into the joining wall of the U-shaped space. Creating a customized recessed area here allows for a standard-depth refrigerator model to be selected. A customized look is achieved using standard materials. Counter-depth refrigerator models do typically cost more than standard models. The difference in storage space within is just as important to note. This same space could accommodate a counter depth model with just 20 cu. ft. of storage. Instead, a standard Whirlpool side by side with 25 cu. ft. of storage rests in its designated area. Recessing the refrigerator also helped the back bar get a great look.

A more symmetrical layout was achieved by centering a sink base on the back wall and framing in the space with two glass-front wall cabinets. A mosaic tile has been installed below the wall cabinetry and spreads into the center section. In place of a valance or a center cabinet, the crown molding stretches across the top from wall to wall. This gives the perfect way to “cap” off the tile. Deciding how or where to end a backsplash tile installation can often be difficult above sinks. There are commonly unique cabinets or a windows above the sink and that can create odd exposed areas of wall. We love the look of this filled in space. This area is now perfect for hanging a large wall clock, mirror, or framed artwork.crown molding caps off tile backsplash. | VillageHomeStores.com

The base cabinetry of the back bar includes a space for a microwave drawer and pull-out trash bin. The cabinets used in this wet bar design are a Rustic Beech wood finished in a “Mocha” stain from our Koch Classic line. Rustic Beech is an economically priced wood species and takes stain similar to a Birch wood. The rustic features (like knots) add character and detail to the space. The rich “Mocha” stain paired with Oil-Rubbed Bronze hardware and faucet help make this “rustic” wood look high-end and dramatic. bar cabinetry. | VillageHomeStores.com

glass_cabinetThe wall cabinets on each end of the back bar have been ordered with the center panel cut for glass. A textured glass has been custom fit and sealed into place to allow the cabinets to become display areas. Textured glass is a great selection for this type of display cabinet. It allows you to see that items are being stored within but it can be difficult to make out what the items are. That way if you have a stack of paper plates behind the glass, it looks no different than if it were a vase or a bowl. A detail that looks great but can be forgiving in a multi-purpose space like a wet bar.

Because of their location, many times wet bars are home to a lot of “overflow” bulk items or seasonal items. Use this opportunity to include as much storage as possible. The important thing is to have a great space to join your guests when entertaining. The bar top itself should be large and well lit. bar pendant lighting. | VillageHomeStores.com

Our lighting expert selected these three “Kent” pendant lights by Artcraft Lighting to hang above the bar top area. The Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish paired perfectly with the other selections. The light that comes from these pendants isn’t just impressive on the bar top. Take a look at the display of light that the “hammered” glass casts on the ceiling above. Selecting the right lighting for a wet bar design can truly set the tone for the entire space. wet bar in lower level of Bettendorf, IA home. | VillageHomeStores.com

The pendants are the perfect size and scale. The added textured detail to the glass gives a playful showcase of light. Details like these help take a basic space and make it breathtaking.
