Eldridge Iowa Bathroom Remodel With Laundry Area

Did you know that Village Home Stores services the entire extended Quad Cities Region? What does that mean exactly? It means that our showroom in Geneseo, IL us really just a short drive away from many cities in the surrounding Illinois and Iowa area. Eldridge Iowa is a wonderful example of one of those cities. In recent years we have had our design and product installed in both new and existing homes there. This week’s feature project is a remodeled Master Bathroom just 35 miles away from our showroom in Eldridge. Take a look at this great new space.

We have replaced the single sink vanity area with a double-bowl layout. Cabinetry from our Koch Classic line in the “Bristol” door and Maple wood species. Our bestselling gray neutral “Fog” paint is applied with Satin Nickel Bremen handles. A closet area has been converted to a stylish laundry nook inside the Master Bath. Wall cabinetry hangs above a front-load washer and dryer from our Maytag line. Having laundry located on the main level of a home can be such a convenience! And with these front-loaders now located in the Master Suite of the home, sorting and putting away laundry is just steps from the machines. We also installed a wall of cabinetry opposite the washer and dryer that includes a tall cabinet and a hanging rail.

Pedestals raise the washer and dryer up to a level that is ideal for loading and unloading the machines. Each pedestal opens up to provide more storage. They even fit short, rectangle-style laundry baskets within! This laundry pair is a powerhouse for any household! Backed by Maytag’s 10 Year Limited Parts Warranty with coverage on the Direct Drive Motor, Washer Basket, and Drum. Large capacity, steam settings, and a refresh cycle make them a great choice for a front load pair. We have installed new floor tile throughout the bathroom. It is a 12″x 24″ Amelia tile in the “Mist” color. This same tile is used as the wall tiles in a new custom shower area. We snapped a photo of the new shower before the custom door was installed:

Aren’t those custom wall niches great!? Symmetrical shelves make it easy to separate and store toiletries and soaps. The accent tile used as the shower floor, bench, and inside of these niches is also banded around the shower walls. The 2″ x 2″ basket-weave tile is from the same Ameila series as the wall tiles but in the contrasting “Carbon” color. We love how the bench area looks like it just waterfalls down into the shower floor in this home.

A Delta shower head and removable hand wand was installed for the new shower. Notice that the wand is adjustable for location and it is attached to a grab bar for added safety.

Including grab bars in a bathroom remodel is a wise investment for any home no matter your age or ability. Age-at-home features like these grab bars add a level of safety for all users and certainly add a priceless piece of mind to your remodel selections once everything is installed and finished.

We included another storage area above the new toilet in the bathroom. These stand-alone cabinets are called “toilet toppers” and typically include an open shelf space as well as a concealer door area for toilet paper and other items to be stored out of sight.

Next to the toilet is a great example of our Radiant series of switches and outlets. Notice how this series has no visible screws!? We love that clean look and detail. This series has many great options including a nightlight (shown off/on below).

In keeping with the other clean and fresh material selections, a marble-look quartz counter was installed to replace the original navy blue cultured marble top. This color is the Carrara Grigio design with an undermounted Caxton sink. A quartz backsplash and endsplashes complete the look.

Geneseo, IL Farmhouse Kitchen Harvests Style and Comfort

Just in time for harvest in the Midwest, this week’s remodel feature is a tailored and updated take on country charm. Who says having a house and some acreage means all the best things should happen outside? While the kitchen in this Geneseo, IL rural home boasts some incredible views outside the windows, the view is pretty great in here! Take a look at this bright and cheerful new kitchen remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores.Koch cabinetry, Cambria Swanbridge quartz, and Whirlpool appliances in a Geneseo kitchen. Complete remodel from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

White painted cabinetry, marble-look tops, stainless appliances, and soft blue-gray finishes give a refreshing new look to the space. A kitchen layout with lots of new storage and counter space greets you from the back door as well as this (above) view in from a pass-through window to the Living Room. But even with these great windows, the kitchen wasn’t always this bright and storage-focused. Like many homes over the years, the kitchen had evolved into a need for more storage space and new locations for appliances.

When working with a kitchen design expert at Village Home Stores you will help to qualify what layout and specialty cabinets will be the best way to utilize the space that you have available. In this kitchen we did not remove any walls or even soffits above. Instead, we accessed the locations of the major appliances and even found room for a dishwasher in the new design. The before and after transformation of this corner gives you an idea of how a clean, consistent depth cabinet layout can keep so much stored out of sight and free up tons of counter space. Koch cabinetry, Cambria Swanbridge quartz, and blue subway tile backsplash in a Geneseo kitchen. Complete remodel from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

The corner at the opposite end of the U-shaped kitchen was another area to be addressed. In the original space a small tiled landing zone was set up next to a crowded range area by the back door entry to the kitchen.  That made the space feel cramped and crowded to the user at the cooktop. A tiled wall is great… but if you have ever had to keep a tiled countertop wiped clean you know it can be a constant struggle with the grout lines. There was also no storage in the base area of that corner.

The new kitchen design creates a landing zone as a forward-facing drop zone area. A wall cabinet above and a standard base cabinet and drawer below plus a wall outlet from our legrand radiant collection that is fit with USB charging ports. A strip of our diode LED tape lights illuminates the drop zone and new quartz countertops perfectly. This new kitchen features our Koch Classic Cabinetry line in a beaded doorstyle named Orleans that has been painted with a White finish.

A painted white cabinet, light counters, and a whole new lighting plan makes the new kitchen very bright. Press play below to see a 360 degree view of this Geneseo farmhouse kitchen and everything we fit into it. That’s a lot of storage and open counter space!

Did you notice we even fit a tall pantry into the room? Pantry cabinets can be such a functional investment even if you can’t fit a 24″ deep one in. The original kitchen had a single wall cabinet and shelves set up below the pass-through window.

The new kitchen now includes this tall pantry cabinet 12″ deep and 30″ wide. The top door section of the pantry has a finished interior and the doors have glass inserts for a display area. You would be so thrilled at the amount of storage a single cabinet like this can offer you. If you have an unused wall in your kitchen, nearby hallway, or even dining space it may be a great location for a shallow pantry. Crown molding on top gives it a finished look and the tall doors of this pantry are the best doors to showcase the beaded, cottage style center panels. narrow pantry cabinet in a remodeled kitchen from Village Home Stores.

In the new layout, the range location has been swapped with the refrigerator for a more functional use of the kitchen space. You can see the drop zone mentioned previously to the left of the refrigerator. A narrow cabinet to the right designates an area for baking sheets and cutting boards in the new plan.Whirlpool french door refrigerator and baking sheet organized cabinet in a Geneseo kitchen. A full depth model from Whirlpool was used because walkway distances were not an issue with no kitchen island in this plan. In fact, this full depth model has a total of 25 cu. ft. of storage space including gallon door bins and a full-width temperature controlled deli drawer. There is even an interior water dispenser inside the refrigerator. That keeps the front of the french door refrigerator smooth and stylish. Oh and did we mention this Stainless finish by Whirlpool resists fingerprints and smudges and easily wipes clean?!?!  Whirlpool full depth WRF535SWHZ french door refrigerator with internal water dispenser. The other appliances are pretty incredible in style and function as well. The new cooking zone of the kitchen is now located on the longest wall between the windows. Wall cabinets frame in a microwave hood also from Whirlpool. This amazing microwave model includes and Whirlpool’s innovative new Scan-to-Cook Technology. Whirlpool WMH78019HZ microwave hood with connected scan to cook features. What is Scan-to-Cook Technology? Sounds like something out of the Jetsons right? Well with a connected Whirlpool appliance, it’s honestly is exactly as easy as scanning and then pressing start! These connected “smart” appliance features are available on many new Whirlpool appliances making them affordable AND keeping your kitchen activity simpler and easier. Press play below to learn more about the Scan-to-Cook feature available on select microwaves and ranges.

A slide-in front-control electric range sits below with landing space on each side of it. This makes the cooking zone ideal for users during prep and cooking activity. So much space and just steps from pantry storage, fresh food storage in the refrigerator and the kitchen sink to the right. We love how these front-control range designs leave the back area where the cooktop meets the wall clear for tile. Whirlpool front control electric range WEC310S0FS in a Geneseo kitchen. The light from all the kitchen windows pours in to surround the cooking zone in the new design. We admit we would get caught daydreaming out of this kitchen sink window about a million times a day if we lived here. We love how the tiled backsplash carries up the wall to surround the window frame. A custom and charming detail.Koch cabinetry, Cambria Swanbridge quartz, blue subway tile, and Whirlpool appliances in a Geneseo farmhouse. | VillageHomeStores.com

The marble-look countertops in this kitchen are the Swanbridge design by Cambria Quartz. Manufactured in the USA, Cambria quartz is an ideal kitchen surface. It is foodsafe, stain and heat resistant and there are so many incredible designs to select from in both glossy and matte finishes. Learn more about Cambria Quartz and our recent visit to the Minnesota facilities here in a past blog post. The 3 x 6 subway tile from Glazzio’s Lumiere Series is amazing and the Eiffel Grey color has a faint cottage blue tint to it. Installing it in a herringbone pattern with contrasting grout lines is the perfect choice for a stylish statement. Of course you know we can’t feature a great tiled kitchen wall without pointing out that our bestselling Diode LED tape lighting is why it looks so great! There is no better investment to insure you love your new kitchen day and night for many years than this lighting system. Every customer who installs it is shocked t how much they love it. Plus it is low-voltage and dimmable so you can leave it one a lot without high energy use. We added a ledge piece of Cambria Swanbridge quartz to act as a “sill” for this pass-through window. Repeating the countertop product in a new use helps to bridge the two spaces together. Moline, IL Kitchen Remodel Finds Room For Style and a Small Island

This Moline, IL home was ready for a new kitchen look and layout. There were no major changes as far as moving appliances or even removing soffits. Rich new finishes were selected, storage was added, and room for a small kitchen island was found. Koch cabinetry in the flat-panel Savannah door and Birch wood stained Chestnut is a perfect compliment to the existing woodwork in the home.  Moline Illinois kitchen with Nevasca Mist granite, Koch Cabinetry, luxury vinyl floors, and mosaic tile. Remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

The main wall of cabinetry is found on the sink wall of the kitchen. A range is centered on a nearby wall with landing space on each side.  With plenty of walkway space surrounding it, a kitchen island is an important part of the new design! Prepping for a meal and coming home with a load of groceries just got a lot easier for this household. This two-cabinet island is a very functional part of the new layout. Perfectly located for prep, back door entry, and even space for seating! The added storage and work surface this island brings to the new kitchen is so important. The island top is also the best place to see the stunning granite selected for the kitchen. Moline Illinois kitchen with Nevasca Mist granite and Koch Cabinetry remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

One of the exciting parts of choosing granite for your remodel project in the Quad Cities is that we have a local source for you to select your material from! This can be a very interesting way to make a personal connection with your design. Epic Stone is located in Davenport, Iowa and there you can walk the aisles of slabs and help decide what you are drawn to. Your designer at Village can then partner with our fabricators to make sure the stone you hand-select makes the journey from Epic, to the fabrication shop, and then finally into your home. Learn more about Epic Stone here in a past blog post. This Moline, IL customer selected a stone named “Nevasca Mist” and it is a beautiful blend of warm grays and beiges.

So much great storage and functionality added to the kitchen with this small island. We also love the flooring selected for the new space. These may appear to be 12″ x 24″ ceramic tiles but no grout lines! That is because they are actually luxury vinyl tiles. Our Tarkett Premiere line can be installed with or without grout. This kitchen showcases a neutral color named “Onyx Travertine Silver” and the look is great. Moline Illinois kitchen with Koch cabinetry in Birch wood and Chestnut finish remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.comThe appliances were updated recently in this kitchen but we did make an adjustment to the microwave hood area of the layout. A smooth panel was installed above the microwave area to match the look of the drawerboxes in the kitchen. We added to the soffit depth on this side of the kitchen to allow the small crown molding to be installed and now the wall cabinet section has a full, customized surround look.

Across the kitchen was an area put to better use in the new design. The new kitchen island now can be a landing zone for back door entry. Instead of a base and wall cabinet combination, a tall pantry cabinet now offers so much storage space and a customized look to the stand-alone section of the kitchen. Moline Illinois kitchen tall pantry cabinet in a Birch wood and Chestnut finish remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

If you peek at the before and after image below, you will notice there wasn’t exactly a lot of backsplash space in the “before” kitchen. Tall wall cabinets were installed beneath existing soffits leaving only half of the expected space you would want for that area. If you look at the “after” side of the image, you will see a more comfortable suggested space of 18″.

It truly lets the tile choice in the new kitchen to be showcased. The tile and granite selections together are just perfect! The mosaic tile seems to have been made just for this pairing! Glazzio’s Closseum Series in the Caesar Beige color looks incredible! The granite and tile are splendidly showcased by our bestselling Diode LED lighting system.Moline kitchen with Nevasca Mist granite and Glazzio Colosseum series tile. This Diode LED lighting system is such a wise investment and every customer that has it installed is so happy with it. It is low-voltage, and low-profile leaving you with so many options for installation. Of course undercabinet lighting is our most popular use. Because of their low power use, these lights are perfect if you like to keep a night-light on on the evening or like to have lights on waiting for you when you arrive home. The Diode lights can also be dimmable shown below on one of our legrand radiant collection paddle switch sets:Moline Illinois kitchen with legrand Radiant paddle switches and outlets. Old homes are just so much fun to remodel because you honestly never know what unique feature you will stumble upon! In this Moline home there was a laundry chute located on the left wall of the kitchen sink area.  While the homeowner wasn’t planning on using it for laundry, he did find a fun use. Voila! a recycling chute! He keeps a plastic bin down below to collect cans and sends them down when he is finished. We think Alice in Wonderland would find it a “curiously” custom solution and definitely a conversation starter. Moline Illinois kitchen with small custom door, Koch cabinetry in Birch wood and Chestnut finish remodeled from start to finish by Village Home Stores. | villagehomestores.com

Princeton, IL- Kitchen and Bath Remodel in Princeton

Wood cabinetry and durable quartz counters make this Princeton, IL kitchen warm and inviting. We did a lot of remodel work in the home including bathroom remodels (more on that later) and new flooring in many rooms. This kitchen has come long way from the original in this Princeton, IL home. It now has an upgraded layout and materials. Take a look at this before photo:

Cabinetry upgrades that include storage solutions can be the very best way to treat yourself when you are remodeling a kitchen. In a remodel situation you know your space is limited and you have had a chance to use and experience the needs for what you hope to have in a new kitchen. Smart storage is the very best storage any kitchen can offer. Take a look at this convenient knife block cabinet we included by the prep and cooking zone. Koch cabinetry in a remodeled Princeton, IL kitchen with pullout knife block. | VillageHomeStores.com

Our designers will work closely with you to help establish a wishlist of items and find cabinet solutions that may be the perfect investment for your everyday use. Other great pullout storage cabinets are spice cabinets near the cooking zone. This cabinet shown is plenty wide so that spices and cooking oils and sprays can also fit within.  Pullout spice rack cabinet in a Princeton, IL kitchen. Across the kitchen is a tall pantry cabinet with a center shelf section for a microwave. To the left is a section of counter space above the dishwasher. This kitchen design includes a peninsula instead of an island. This allows a section of base cabinets and tops to extend out from the wall. The original kitchen had a bar-height section raised up and this new updated layout keeps the space open with just one single level. Birch Briarwood cabinetry in a remodeled Princeton, IL kitchen. | VillageHomeStores.com

At the inside corner of this peninsula is the new kitchen sink. New Engineered Quartz counters in the “Chakra Beige” color look great with an undermounted kitchen sink. Now this new peninsula is one large surface with an overhang for seating.

Another section of cabinet storage and countertop surface has been included near the kitchen table. This location makes a perfect morning station with space for the coffeepot and toaster. Birch wood is a wonderful choice for any traditional style kitchen space. The grain is very clean and smooth and many stains take to it in a way that compliments existing furniture and wood trim. The added accent glaze on the cabinet doors in this kitchen looks great with all of the oil rubbed bronze hardware and lighting.
