Edgebrooke Homes- Kitchen With Blue Island in Bettendorf, Iowa

Blue cabinetry is having more than just a “moment” in the Kitchen and Bath industry! We have installed so many stunning spaces over the past fews years that have introduced a painted blue finish and now it is become such a staple option for Transitional, Scandinavian, and Modern Farmhouse styled spaces. Blue cabinetry is forecasted to remain an accent color for many years to come. Our Koch Classic Cabinetry line makes a neutral blue-gray paint called “Charcoal Blue” and it truly makes a great statement as the island finish in this Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Blue and white cabinet kitchen in Bettendorf, Iowa home. The main kitchen perimeter is a “White” painted cabinetry in the same “Bristol” doorstyle as the kitchen island. Staggered heights and depths of wall cabinetry can help to add interest to a kitchen design that has tall ceilings. This kitchen also includes two heights for casual dining. A large dinette area at dining height, and a single-level kitchen island extends to add more seating at the island. Blue and white kitchen with dining and kitchen island seating in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. The pantry and refrigerator wall of the kitchen actually conceals a hidden feature. The pantry doors open to reveal access to the large walk-in pantry space that turns the corner behind the wall of cabinetry. This same look can be applied in a remodel situation with existing closets or unique spaces. Ask your designer at Village Home Stores how we can include one in your own design. Walk-through pantry front in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Village Home Stores doesn’t want to just know what kitchen spaces inspire you… we want to know what your own dream kitchen looks like. We know it can be difficult for our clients to have a clear vision of what that looks like early on in the design phase. That is why we are here to help. You showing us spaces and ideas that inspire you, helps us build a concept for your own space and tastes.  We have a number of great specialty cabinet options like this pantry front that can take your design to the next level! The tall pantry cabinet is balanced by the refrigerator surround on the opposite end of this wall. Also included on this wall is a microwave drawer unit. Microwave drawers are a great way to keep the microwave appliance off of the counter and reachable for any users. Another great location for a microwave drawer is in a kitchen island. This section of the featured kitchen creates a great landing space of countertop for loading and unloading the refrigerator and also a work surface for microwave use and food prep. Sharp microwave drawer in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. Counter depth refrigerator models can really help you so much when the design demands it for traffic paths and space allowances. In this kitchen, a standard depth unit works perfectly “built-in” against the wall on one side and with a tall, deep panel on the other. A deep cabinet above completes the look. The 36″ wide Whirlpool model fits and offers so much great storage. It also stays looking great with a Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel finish that easily wipes clean. Whirlpool WRF555SDFZ French Door Refrigerator in a Bettendorf, Iowa kitchen. The kitchen island includes the kitchen sink and a Whirlpool dishwasher. This dishwasher is quiet at just 47 decibels (normal conversation is at about 50 dba). A TotalCoverage Spray Arm cleans with twice the jets as usual and an In-Door Silverware Basket frees up rack space by easily fitting on the front of the lower rack or in the door to make room for more dishes. Charcoal Blue painted kitchen island and Whirlpool dishwasher in a Bettendorf, Iowa home. Hazelwood Homes- Kitchen With Blue Island and Schoolhouse Lights

If you have been looking at any kitchens within the past few years the terms reclaimed, restored, re-purposed, farmhouse, or salvaged may have appeared more than once to describe a space. With the rise and continued interest in Modern Farmhouse style, this week’s featured kitchen may be right in your wheelhouse! Because of our location, kitchens we have designed in our area of the Midwest have many times included Modern Farmhouse details. With more access to images of finished spaces, our customers feel they have more license to take chances and have fun with it! Like these salvaged red schoolhouse lights for instance…

Have you started to see more blue and green painted cabinetry online and in magazines? Yes you read that question right! Blue and green are both trending heavily in our industry! It may seem like a bold choice to include a painted blue island in your kitchen design but this look is actually very classic. Our Koch Cabinetry line has recently launched a great cabinet finish named “Charcoal Blue” and we have already installed it in many Quad City area homes!

Paired with this blue painted cabinet is a subtle painted finish named “Oyster” also from Koch. The “Oyster” color bridges the gap between white and gray. It is a soft, dove-gray color that suits many styles of spaces. The doorstyle in this kitchen is the “Prairie” door and a slab drawer front has been applied.

Two large schoolhouse-style pendant lights hang as a statement above the kitchen island. This look is so on-trend right now but these lights don’t just give that restoration and re-purposed look, they really have a history with the family! They were originally salvaged from an old schoolhouse, then used in a family business before being installed here in Coal Valley, IL.

There were other lights from the same schoolhouse that have now been sent over to France for a project. We love it when little pieces of family history can be included in a kitchen design!  While we didn’t provide these pendant lights for this home, we do have access to very similar pendants! Schoolhouse style lighting can be ordered in a number of styles, sizes, and finishes. Since the lights make a big statement on their own, the back wall with the hood is subtle. Two glass door cabinets flank a microwave hood area.

A single-well undermount sink has been installed in the kitchen island. The countertops in this kitchen space are a natural stone named “White Wave”. Within the slabs there are a number of neutral colors. Whites and grays dance around but so do muted blues. There are even a few flecks of a cranberry color which is a nice detail with the statement red pendants above.

There is an overhang on the back of the kitchen island that has been curved with a radius to soften the shape. Beneath the top, flat-stock steel support brackets have been notched into and installed in the cabinetry. This allows the granite tops more points of contact to balance the weight of the counter safely.

What would a red, white and blue kitchen be without a star? Well this space has one! Village Home Stores also provided some of the lighting for this home including this unique brass star fixture from our ELK line. The shadows it casts on the ceiling are so amazing!
