This kitchen in Davenport Iowa has been remodeled for a whole new look with stylish finish selections and designated areas for casual dining, a TV hutch, and a wet bar area. A chic combination of whites, muted grays, and blues are paired with gold metals accents and a dream appliance suite. A large, single-level kitchen island is at the center of the design with storage opening to the user at either the cleaning or cooking zones.

This kitchen features two of the best-selling painted finishes from our Koch cabinetry line. The gray “Fog” paint has been applied to the Prairie Door on the perimeter of the kitchen design. The kitchen island cabinetry and panels are the “Charcoal Blue” painted finish. We love how everything turned out for this family. Press play below to take a look around!
One of the benefits of working with Village Home Stores for your kitchen remodel is that we are a one-stop-shop with many departments all in one location. A great example of how that can be helpful to you, is when you are selecting the lighting for your kitchen. We have the opportunity for your kitchen designer to walk over to one of our lighting experts and show them the size, shape, and vision of your kitchen plan to discuss your options. Our experts can better suggest fixtures pulling from all categories of lighting for your kitchen. Why consider all categories? Not every kitchen island light would be found in the “pendant section” of our website. For instance, take a look at the lighting installed here:

Yes those look like two large pendant lights (a very sought-after trend in kitchen lighting)… but they are technically foyer lights. The two 4-light pendants in a “Warm Brass” finish are from our Savoy House line. The lantern shape suggests a traditional style but in a contemporary way. Instead of repeating the same light in the nearby dining area, we found a fixture that compliments the other lighting. In fact this isn’t even from the same company. A single glass pendant from Capital Lighting hangs above a pub-height table near the TV hutch. Shop our lighting in-store with an expert or online at villagehomestores.com/lighting where you can browse products and text with our team virtually.

A built in TV hutch eliminates a buffet cabinet or sideboard with a tv on the top, and elevates it instead to a custom fitted TV and shelf unit. Deep base cabinets below can be used for anything. Store overflow of kitchen items, hide board games, or stash entertaining or seasonal items. We included a quartz counter service with open bookshelves on each side and small cabinets with doors at the counter to hide remotes, a charging area, and TV hardware. Have an unused wall of your home that you can’t seem to find the right piece of furniture for? Give our designers a call. We can create something suited just for you. Around the corner from the TV hutch, there is a narrow hallway that connects the kitchen to the living room.

This hallway is also accessible from the sliding glass doors entering from the backyard. The proximity to all these areas makes it the perfect location for a wet bar. An Elkay E-Granite bar sink is offset to create a long counter surface to the right. Perfect for serving up a single cocktail or setting up a full drink station for a party. “Champagne Bronze” plumbing fixtures from Delta are installed here in the bar as well as the kitchen. A black stainless Danby beverage center with glass door makes it easy for hosts or guests to grab a drink. Glass doors are also used above in the two large wall cabinets. One is used to display spirits, and the other is used for glassware. Below the glassware cabinet is more available stemware storage if needed.

During the remodel process, new flooring was installed in the kitchen, pantry, wet bar, dining room, hallway powder room, and back entry area from the garage. Nothing helps create a seamless look and layout for a home quite like new flooring can. each of these spaces are the perfect candidate for our most sought-after category of flooring: luxury vinyl plank. These 7″ x 48″ planks are from Engineered Floor’s Triumph Italian Impressions series in the “Provencal” color.

The kitchen itself is of course packed with great storage options like pullout waste baskets and slide out shelves. The kitchen island includes two standard drawer and door base cabinets and a large pots and pans drawer stack at the center. “Satin Bronze” cabinet hardware in the Sutton series by Hardware Resources is installed on both cabinet finishes. See more images of this kitchen and surrounding spaces here on our Houzz page.

Never forget that a kitchen design in a home should reflect the space and the user how they need it to. A kitchen island with seating for one stool may sounds strange when suggested… but this creates an extremely versatile end to an island. By extending the counter surface without adding another cabinet, we have created an overhang that can be used a number of ways. You can enjoy your morning coffee here, set up a stepstool for a child to help work in the kitchen, even place waste baskets under the overhang to be more accessible during large gatherings.

There is a large pantry cabinet on the wall opposite the sink that rests right next to the KitchenAid French Door refrigerator. This refrigerator is a counter-depth model and happens to be the largest capacity counter-depth refrigerator in its class. It has a PrintShield Stainless Steel finish to resist fingerprints. The interior storage of this counter depth model is very customizable with a slide-away shelf that retracts to fit tall items, and full-extension self-close crispers and pantry to let you store so much inside!

The Kitchen Aid cooking zone of the new design is all set for any meal or task. A convection microwave hood allows you to pop popcorn, reheat your coffee… but also steam and simmer items thanks to a sensor-monitored cooking cycle and an innovative list of options. The front-control gas range also includes convection features along with a steam rack that offers the ability to add additional moisture to the inside of the oven, enhancing cooking results.

Hanstone Quartz counters in the “Yorkville” design provide a subtle, white pattern for a non-porous and sleek counter surface. The kitchen backsplash selected is another contemporary take on a traditional shape. Highland Park Arabesque shaped tiles in “Whisper White” are installed with a gray grout to help bring attention to the shape of the tiles. How do you get a clean look to the “end” of your kitchen wall tile like this? Ask a tile expert at Village about our Schluter system of channels and caps. Here we show a white Schluter strip capping the cut ends of the backsplash tile.
