This featured project is a new home that was just built in Geneseo, IL by Hazelwood Homes. This customer selected cabinetry, countertops, appliances, lighting, flooring, and wall surfaces from Village Home Stores for the home. The great room kitchen is an absolute dream! What a refreshing break from all the white painted kitchens. A hickory wood kitchen including cabinetry from our Dura Supreme line is paired with Cambria Quartz counters in the Torquay design.
The Hudson door has been stained with the warm “Morel” finish from Dura Supreme. This finish on Hickory wood serves up such a variety of warm gray tones. A single door can give you multiple wood tones. That variety in the cabinetry wood allowed this customer to focus just on one stationary note for the flooring selection.
COREtec Plus HD luxury vinyl plank flooring is a wonderful choice for a great room setting like this. 7″ x 48″ planks of the “Belle Mead Oak” color look amazing in these photos but trust me they are beautiful floors in person! Press play below to step into the space and take a closer look around the entire kitchen.
You know what that video can’t do? It can’t let you touch and feel this finish on hickory! If this kitchen grabs your eye, we beg you to make an appointment to come see and feel some samples of our Dura Supreme cabinetry in person. There are so many door and finish options available and our team continues to get training on new finish and product launches. Dura Supreme has launched some very exciting new things in 2020 and we can’t wait to get to work designing them into spaces for Village customers.
If you are looking to create a polished, custom look for your kitchen design then be sure explore your range hood options. This kitchen showcases a great option to order a matching wood hood for your design. This wall of cabinetry looks so warm and stunning without the disruption of a metal range hood.
This hood design also gives the option of adding a mantle area with a shelf. Many customers use this area for seasonal décor like wreathes, garland, or even leaning artwork on it. Wood hoods are a great look but don’t worry, above that commercial gas cooktop there is also proper ventilation! 500 CFMs to be exact! A stainless Steel Broan hood insert is tucked away beneath the cabinet hood.
Need some hood inspiration? Check out this board on our Pinterest page for some ideas from our past projects. The main wall in the kitchen is also home to a massive amount of cabinet storage. Imagine a gameshow like Supermarket Sweep…but instead you just get to move things into a newly finished kitchen? We would totally watch that show and this kitchen would be perfect for a location. Look at all of these wide and deep drawers!
Speaking of great storage, of course this new home has an enviable walk-in pantry as well. We love that there is even a window in it. Press play below to see what other great pantry feature the homeowner worked on with the builder. SPOILER ALERT: it’s so cool!
No kitchen design can be truly successful without great access to fresh food storage. We built in a counter-depth model French door refrigerator with a deep cabinet above and an end panel on the side. This counter-depth KitchenAid refrigerator has 20 cu.ft. of storage and a temperature management system / produce preserver to help keep food fresh. LED lighting throughout the refrigerator makes food easy to find on every level and an interior water dispenser give the homeowner the great feature without a visible dispenser on the front.
The kitchen island cabinetry is installed in the same Hudson door but an accent painted finish. The “Graphite” paint by Dura Supreme is a moody, dark blue/black paint that looks amazing in this design. This finish has sort of a dusty black look to it and looks great paired with grays, blues, and matte black finishes.
The kitchen island interior includes a pullout waste basket, the kitchen sink, a tray divider cabinet, and the dishwasher. A matte black single-arm kitchen faucet with spray arm has a sleek look and a single button control to the right is for the garbage disposal. Did you notice that the dishwasher in the kitchen island is raised up off the floor?
Loading and unloading dishes just got “loads” easier for this homeowner. No more bending down to reach the bottom rack! Raised dishwasher designs are not just for our age-at-home clients, users of all ages and abilities can appreciate less back strain!
Above the dual-height island hang two pendant lights that tie in a weathered metal finish to the design. The “Ari” pendants by Capital Lighting comes in a single light size (shown) as well as a larger scaled size with 3 lights inside. This lighting collection takes a unique finish and applies it to classic lighting silhouettes. The nickel finish is hand-applied using an acid-etching technique.
Just like in the wood cabinet finish, this metal finish has warm undertones that come through. So instead of a cold or industrial feel, we get a warm and storied look. We don’t normally have the opportunity to select accent tile that compliments woods and metals alike… but this kitchen let us do exactly that. Above the gas cooktop is a diamond area of faux tin tile.
These tiles are from Midwest Tile’s “Gatsby” series in the “Lead Tin” color. They look right at home alongside all of the other surface selections made. It looked so great with the kitchen finishes and lighting that we even repeated it across the room as the fireplace surround.
But remember this is a whole new house, not just a new kitchen. So there is even more tile to be shown off. Another of our favorites is found in the primary bathroom. The painted farmhouse tile shown below is the “Memoir” series from Daltile in the “Petal Black” color.
Excuse us while we pick our jaws up off the floor along with you. Once you have regained composure, press play below to take a closer look around this incredible bathroom. It includes a custom tiled shower with another painted farmhouse tile for an accent.
Pretty amazing right? The laundry room in this new home is also enviable. Bright and stylish with “Fog” painted cabinetry from our Koch Express line in the “Windsor” door. A pair of Maytag top load laundry is ready to tackle any load. No matter the size or the soil, this set is up for the challenge.
This home turned out so beautiful and there is so much we wish we could share with you. See more of all of the finished spaces and surfaces in this new home here on our Houzz page. There you can see a full album of photos including more kitchen images, the bathrooms, laundry, lighting, and flooring surfaces.
