Village Home Stores has design and products in so many new construction homes in and around the Quad Cities. Many times, we never get to visit the finished spaces once the project is complete. We recently tagged along with our lighting designer on a final to visit to one of the most stunning homes we think we have ever provided products for, so we had to share some highlights with you. Village was thrilled to provide custom Amish-built cabinetry, quartz countertops surfaces, and a unique Modern lighting plan for this incredible Iowa home built by Windmiller Design and Build of the Quad Cities. Let us take a look around!
Custom Two Island Kitchen With Modern Lighting
Let’s start with a peek at the custom kitchen design. Our Four Acre Custom Amish Cabinetry line allows us to completely customize every detail of an order. Here we created a custom door and drawer style for the client and used a combination of “Super White” and “Iron Ore” paints applied. The kitchen banquette area, and TWO islands were painted in the “Iron Ore” along with the taller elements like refrigerator and wall ovens.
The wall cabinets bookending the range hood have this same dark accent color applied with glass door cutouts and white cabinet interiors. What a great way to include a dark accent color without a heavy visual weight. Using dark doorframes and a lighter interior and cabinet box gives the illusion of an open and airy shelf (without the dust collecting of an open shelf).
We visited this new home during the first holiday season they were spending in it. We love how the homeowner added red ribbon and bows wrapping the lower doors. We will certainly be adding this ribbon idea to our Holiday Decor Ideas board on Pinterest. We may even have to try this in the showroom for next Christmas.
This entire home is flooded with natural light during the day. The use of white cabinetry and lighter wall colors give a gallery effect to the accent cabinet areas and showcases the lighting selections made. Above the dining area and two kitchen islands we used Kichler’s Armstrong series of sputnik-shaped lights in the “Aged Brass” finish.
Each island has a pair of 6-light chandeliers and the banquette seating area has the 8-light style. You can shop the Armstrong series here on our website. Just use the search feature and you will find chandeliers, flush mounts, wall sconces, and more (yes there are other finishes too). You may notice the bold line that the countertops make in the images we have shared here. In the kitchen we installed “Carrera Caldia” Q Quartz tops with a 2.5″ thick “laminated edge” applied.
We also had the same quartz installed as a full-height backsplash to keep a clean and seamless aesthetic in the kitchen. The colors and subtle movement in this quartz surface are a welcomed part of this complete design without being too bold of a color or pattern in the great room kitchen space. Shown below is the coffee station area with a tall wall cabinet above.
Other Cabinet and Surface Areas in a New Home
Just down a short hallway from the kitchen and walk in pantry is a dream of a laundry room space. We had to share an image of the cabinetry we did there because the color is so bright and cheerful! This is Sherwin Williams’ “Vast Sky” blue paint on custom cabinets, panels, cubbies, and trim.
In a new home there are storage and surface needs around every corner. We provided custom items for areas in this home like bathrooms, the dining room, and even a “floating” TV cabinet in the great room. This floating cabinet look can be great for bathroom vanities, bar areas, and built ins like this. Add lighting down below for a very cool ambient look in the evening hours. Any parents with busy kids (and the toy piles that come with them) can picture how nice a few shallow baskets tucked under here could be to stow away things quickly if company arrives.
Unique and Modern Statement Lighting
Just off from the great room in the home is the stairway upstairs to the bedrooms. When we say this staircase knocked the wind out of us, we mean it! This bold combination of gold and matte black for the railing and bannister would look right at home in any art museum or 5 star hotel but this family gets to enjoy it every day in their own home! At the top is a light fixture from Village that is a sculptural art piece itself.
Say hello to the “Synapse” light by ELK Home Lighting. Synapse is available in 7, 9, and 11-light models and shown below in Aged Brass with Smoke Grey glass. This lighting collection echoes the natural beauty of electrochemical transmission, linking orbs of glass with a network of brass connections. Science inspires art!
The stairway lighting makes a statement, but the first impressions are made with the home’s entryway lighting. The “Clover” series from our Crystorama line. Two aged brass chandeliers from this series hang in the entry and airlock of the new home built in Bettendorf/LeClaire, Iowa. We love the way the “Clover” series looks in a profile view and from underneath.
There is an airlock area with a rich, royal teal painted paneling at the front entrance to this home. The brass and clear crystals sparkle and shine in two sizes. A smaller 8-light circle hangs inside the airlock coat closet area, and a larger 12-light circle lights the foyer entry into the home.
Speaking of great pairs of lighting, we must mention the selections made for the dining room in this home just steps from this entrance. Instead of one long fixture, a set of two statement LED lights hang above where the dining room table will be placed. Acrylic tubes filled with bubbles measure 32″ each and they are named “Astro”. This series along with many other cool LED lighting options are available from our Kuzco line.
The dining room includes a wall of antiqued mirrors to reflect these lights and we are obsessed with how they look from the outside of the home (see below)! The modern and clean lines of this new home needed a sleek and stylish exterior lighting choice. Two 3′ tall “Hunt” lanterns from Capital Lighting in a black finish are not only a great style for the home, but they are also the perfect scale for the large columns they hang on.
Tricorn Black Painted Lower Level Bar and Kitchenette
Let’s go back inside to see how we fit the lower level spaces with products from Village. We created a bar space with our custom Amish cabinetry using a slab-style door. This just means that the doors and drawers are a clean and smooth slab of material with the finish. “Tricorn Black” paint has been applied and the toast at this bar goes to the countertops!
Cambria Quartz in the shimmering and dramatic “Golden Dragon” design has been installed at the back of the bar, the front bar, and cascading waterfall bar-height top. This L-shaped top has a 3″ thick look, and the colors and patterns are sure to spark conversations among guests.
Just next to the bar area is a lower level kitchenette space with sink and cooking zone. The same “Golden Dragon” Cambria and slab-style cabinet design is used here. Now entertaining and clean up in this lower level can be done with ease and in style.
