This new home built in Coal Valley, Illinois is packed with beautiful selections from many departments at Village Home Stores. The great room kitchen design takes the spotlight with Traditional-style choices like raised-panel doors and marble-look counters. The cabinetry for this open-concept kitchen is from our Koch Classic line. The “Easton” door is used throughout with an “Oyster” paint for the kitchen perimeter. A “Black Highlight” is applied to the Oyster paint to help accent the doors, drawers, and trim details of the main cabinetry. The wood range hood is stained in a “Frontier” finish. On the island cabinetry, a painted “Black” finish is applied to a Birch wood. An overhang on the back of the single-level kitchen island allows for plenty of counter-height bar stools to accommodate seating.

Dry Bar Area in Kitchen

Located steps from the kitchen sink and cooking areas is a dry bar area. This symmetrical cabinet configuration has two base cabinets bookending a glass-door beverage cooler. Glass door wall cabinets in staggered depths allow space for displaying barware on shelves inside. Cabinets on each end extend all the way down to the Cambria counters. The same backsplash and LED undercabinet lighting is installed to allow this bar area to be an extension of the kitchen.

Walk-in Pantry and Wine Room

A walk-in pantry and wine storage room is just beyond the kitchen. Open and airy, this room offers more counter space for service when entertaining and a space to display wine. The metal and glass mosaic tile from the kitchen backsplash is repeated in this room installed as the back wall to this open shelf design. A grid of white open shelves is available for stemware, vases, platters, stacked dishes, or even cookbooks. Below, full height base cabinets open to more storage. Wood tops in the same “Frontier” stained wood as the hood are used for the counters in this pantry space.

Metal Mosaic Backsplash

The kitchen surface that grabs your eye right away is the backsplash tile selected. A Combination of metal, ceramic, and glass tiles weave together in a vertical pattern. This is Glazzio’s “Chandelier” Series in the “Velvet Truffle” colorway. Imagine this same tile installed in a horizontal direction. It is important to note again that tile is one of the most creative surfaces we can use for your space. Let our tile experts help you select the right tile and installation design for your project with us. Speaking of great tile, check out the one we used in the hall bath of this same house.

Cambria Quartz countertops in the “Brittanicca” design are a classic look in this Traditional kitchen. The look of a marble surface, with no maintenance needed. This color is a warm white field with veining of grays and greiges marbling the slabs. The pattern is dramatic but the contrast of colors is subtle, making “Brittanicca” a perfect neutral choice for surfaces in many styles of spaces. Above the kitchen island hang two large pendant lights. The “Townsend” pendants in a Matte Black finish are from our Savoy House line. Selecting lighting for your kitchen island should not limit you to only small pendant lights. Any light can be an island light! Don’t let an image showing a light hanging in a foyer limit you only to using it in a foyer. One of the same two pendants we show perfectly scaled to this large kitchen island COULD also be hanging in a foyer… but as a pair in this kitchen they are also perfect! The lighting experts at Village Home Stores will work with you and your kitchen designer to help select just the right number, style, and scale of lighting for your kitchen.
